I find I haven't had nearly as much time to spend on here lately due to volunteer work, dog events, and being active in animal rescue. There are only so many hours in a day.

Very cute. I adopted a new dog this week but not a pup, its a 2 year old German shepherd that I got from the pound. She's a great dog. Now I have 4 rescue dogs.

I should have taught our dogs to ring a bell to go out. It would have saved a lot of scratches on the door and wall. However, the bell would be ringing constantly!

The secret is that someone has to train YOU, and then you rehabilitate and obedience train the dog.

Try "Cesar's Way," "A Member of the Pack," and I forgot the name of his 2 other books but you can get them at the library. Also, there are his DVDs, usually at the library also, and his TV shows (library has them with a lot of episodes on one tape or CD). Cesar also has a magazine now that you can subscribe to. I think he has online lessons too but you have to pay for them.

Janet, there was a teen boy with a Rhodesian ridgeback in one of the obedience classes that I took one of my dogs to. His dog was wild and totally out of control from the first class to graduation. The dog didn't learn a thing, nor did the boy! I told the class trainer to give me a week with that dog and he'd be a totallty different dog and would be minding very well. The trainer agreed that I'd have him corrected and on the right track real fast.

The dogs all get along great now. The first day I had the new German shepherd, I had to muzzle bully dog Dakota so he wouldn't bite her. Second day the muzzle came off and I kept him under supervision and verbal control. After that he was ok with her.

Yes, I spoil my dogs very much. They get the best of everything and they go to doggie play dates and to dog events and to the lodge at the lake with our dog club. The big brown dog sleeps cuddled up with me at night, the others sleep in crates but all but one sleep in my room (one has her own bedroom). I just brought home several bags of chew bones, rawhides, and toys for the dogs today. They are happy dogs!

Thank you, aside from my family and my volunteer job, my dogs are my life.

Yes, they keep me busy but I love it! I have trained dogs for 50 years, since I was 11 years old.
