HP/Compaq systems are good choices, generally. Dell is also good. Don't waste time trying to buy the perfect system. Don't buy from a crappy rip-off retailer like Best Buy or Circuit City. Just pick a stock model. ANYTHING made in the last four years will be more advanced than what you were using.
