I never thought about the connection between intuition and being a pantser. It makes sense. I've always believed in the concept of "going with your gut" and putting that in the context of my writing style really puts it in perspective. Thanks for the insight! :-)

Like Katherine, my husband is my biggest supporter. He won't admit it, but he does almost as much work on my revisions as I do - he'll read the work, make notes, and act as a sounding board when I'm trying to work something out. When we found out I'd made the finalist cut for American Title IV, he actually spun me around the living room! :-) I hope all writers have someone like that.

The Internet is a fantastic resource for writers! Between Gather, Librarything, Shelfari, and all the readers' blogs and review sites like Long and Short reviews, it's not hard to find great books.

Bookstores are a great resource for recs, but so are libraries. Most of the clerks are trained in the art of Readers' Advisory, and can usually find some great non-bestseller reads for you right out of the gate. :-)

I've been recommending books by the author Avi for the boy patrons at my library. He writes historical mysteries, pirate books, and adventure novels. Midnight Magic is one of my particular favorites. :-)

I work at a library, and whenever someone says genealogy I think of people hunched over file cabinets and squinting at computer and microfilm machines. Wonderful piece. Thanks for the perspective! :-)
