By the way, I really need that clutter book. I had to laugh, they want Gather members to offer tips to win, but it seems like everyone has more questions than answers. It appears that Gather members need to put de-cluttering on their lists of New Year's resolutions, including me!

Well, I guess those of us clutter-challenged Gather members have all found our spot. I see that we are supposed to share tips, but frankly I NEED them. I really need this book.

The only thing that I have finally gotten a clutter prevention system on is books. Now, every time one comes in, another must go out. I've learned to share books, trade them on PaperbackSwap.com, donate them, and sell the brand new ones on Half.com.

Now I just need a system for the rest of the house!

I really liked it too, I wished it were longer! It definitely made me want to track down her other books. I read "Heartburn" about her failed marriage to Carl Bernstein, years ago. But I haven't read the other ones.

I have sold items on Ebay but there is a lot of hassle. I finally stopped using it and switched to Half.com (which is also owned by Ebay), which just deals with books, DVDs, music, and games. I have been very happy there. They tell you what the going prices are (usually half the retail price or less), and there are different levels of quality (new, like new, etc.). I have had great success there selling books and DVDs. On Half.com (vs. Ebay), you only pay when you sell something, and there is no listing fee. So you can keep it up there as long as you like.

It's not good for selling clothing, toys or anything similar, but if you have books, movies, music, or computer games to sell, I highly recommend it.

I love the photo. It's nice to hear that your friends are pulling together. These are challenging times, but I hope that we will all come out the other side as more compassionate and caring people who realize that we are not how much we earn. That is a big lesson for Americans, I think. Also I hope that we learn to put things into better perspective and see our purpose in the world. Just a few thoughts.

The year of the tiger sounds like a good one!

I hadn't heard about this. I went to Catholic school (here in Illinois), so I am not sure how public schools do things. However, when I was in grade school, every year was a different continent. We learned about South America one year, Asia the next. I don't remember Mexico very vividly, but I do remember the South America year because I loved all the explorers...many of whom (like Balboa) landed there. I can also remember having to do a report on (of all things) mining in Chile or Peru (not sure, it was a long, long time ago). I guess the fact that I remember anything at all from so many years ago is incredible.

Why the fuss? US children get plenty of US history. It's time that Americans start learning about the rest of the world. We need to overcome our xenophobia or we will never solve the world's problems.

Oh, I never clean them up. I have piles and piles. I secretly wish that Gather would just delete them all except for the last couple of weeks.

Who knows what I might find if I did a little digging. Very interesting article. Not so interesting emails.

WooHoo! Great job. You really read a lot. Which of these did you like best? Do you belong to M4A? It's a Yahoo group for mystery addicts. I think you would fit in perfectly, given your reading material. I just to there periodically, but it's an interesting group of people, all of whom are addicted to mysteries of every sort.
