Ah! See, I knew you'd turn a light bulb on for me, thank you! I'd read similar descriptions but not worded exactly this way -- just as the sense of the line steps over the end of the line -- and without the end explanation. Thank you John.

Thank YOU Susan...being in your group reminds me to attempt one o' the many forms on occasion! I did have tanka as a tag and meant to put mindful poetry in there, too, but forgot, sorry!

Yes you did. Now please, can you explain exactly what enjambent means? Anytime I run across it in poem form I do not understand the explanation/definition of it exactly, and was hoping you could shed a bit o' light on me!

Thank you John! And please come back to explain enjambent to me, as it confuses me!

As for the wrap...yes it wraps, but in a fine line it may not, as the lines each can stand alone and flow freely from one line to the next. However, you are right, a wrap isn't generally used in tanka.

I think, I know, another issue I have is in when and where and how to punctualte for the right effect.

Thank you Susan! Well, ancient tanka was generally written about an event, usually an emotional one. Also with a tanka there should be two separate thoughts, yet each line supporting both thoughts. That's where the photo tie-in worked for me too, as this tanka is actually a bit risque, tho' sweetly so. I played with the snow in the photo, giving it a hint of motion, of rising to the trees, much like a gal's skirt might rise to the occasion. Hence, the love vs. lust.

Hahaha, I see where that might be an issue for you! It's interesting too that long ago all emotional events weren't at end until a tanka had been written of them, sort of the grand finale, if you will.

Your words bring life to your uncle, in the first, I like the feeling that brings. In the second, I feel as though the pen-throughs are a crossing off the list the things we did throughout our lives, and also, the pen-throughs when life comes to end. Good pen-throughs...
