No they shoulld not. The word "enumeration" means a count. In this case it is a count of the people living at a residence. As far as the sex of individuals are concerned the first name of the individual is usually an good indicator, unless the name is unisex like Lynn, Adrian/Adrianne, Erin/Arron, etc.
Anything more than this is an invasion of privacy. The questions on the 2010 Census are intrusive and are only useful for social engineering purposes. The Founders never expected that the Census would be used in the manner which today's liberal left eventually wish to use them.
There is only one way to stop the bureaucrats dead in their tracks regarding this information gathering scheme. EVERYONE would have to refuse to give more information other than what the Founders expected the people to give.
It is interesting that the one additional question that should be asked isn't a part of the questionaire, "Are you or anyone in this household an illegal alien?" But common sense isn't relevent when it comes to federal bureaucrats.
