Unfortunately, I couldn't find your article in the Go Green contest. We will continue to feature green resolutions and sustainability news in the Living a sustainable life group, though, so I hope to find your writing there in the future.

Dear Paulette and Kathie,

Contests and sweepstakes frequently exclude residents of the state of Florida and New York because of the red tape involved in registering contests in those states.

"Commonly seen in many sweepstakes rules is the phrase, "void in Florida, New York, and Rhode Island." Why is that? Those states have specific laws relating to contests and sweepstakes which require that a contest promoter file a registration and post a bond or set up a trust account if the total value of prizes exceeds a certain amount of money." Anna R. has the following question for you: "I have a small bay leaf tree growing in a container ... and don't know when/how to use the leaves. I've used dry bay leaves before but can I just pick the leaves off the tree & use as needed? What's the difference in strength between these fresh leaves & dried leaves?"
