Jan, you are correct, no score at this level, although a few kids (and a few irritating parents) do keep a running tab in their head. But for most of the kids, the greatest determining factor on whether not it was a good game is dependent on the type of snacks offered after the game.

Tina, my older daughter would do cartwheels on the field while she was the goalie. Gotta do something to keep yourself occupied while the ball is all the way at the other end of the field.

Kimberly, my daughter is a social player as well. She's more than happy to trail behind the ball 20-30 feet and converse with one of her friends.

Greg, keeping the attention of the players is a constant issue. Rather than fight it, I routinely stop practice and allow the kids to look at passing airplanes, firetrucks, or any other points of interest that it would be futile to try to work against.

No babes in sundresses at my practices, alas. Probably a good thing, because if I lost focus I'm certain at least one of my kids would bolt.

Jeff, the state dept requested that Twitter delay their scheduled maintenance so that it wouldn't disrupt the flow of information out of Iran.  Good move on both parts.

If you wait to watch it on television, you're a couple of days behind.  The revolution isn't being televised, it's being Twittered (and Facebooked, and Farked, and /b/'d).  Granted, it's hard to filter out all the noise, but a lot more is happening than is being reported in the mainstream media (too busy worrying about Miss California 2.0's stance on gay marriage, perhaps).

On my first trip ever to the DMV to get my learner's permit, I was doing fine with all the questions, even aced the eye exam.  Then the woman behind the counter asked me if I wanted to be an organ donor.  My response was, "not yet!"  Her expression never changed, she just stared at me with her unblinking, government-bureaucracy glazed half eyes.

Al Roker went on a murderous rampage and it took 4 shots of elephant tranquilizer to bring him down.  It was a good thing Jack Hanna was in the green room that day.
