Psuedonyms can be a good thing, but I find it's generally a good idea to just be aware of how you're posting on any online forum. Although I certainly share some more intimate bits of my life on my personal blog, I also don't get too deep into it, and any forum I'm on I try to be respectful of the other folks on board. It's all a reflection of you, after all - pseudonym or not.

That's an interesting point - it didn't occur to me that kids would be another reason against morning events. In my case, the problem ended up being a grad student boyfriend who would keep me up until all hours; I couldn't get out of bed most mornings, and when I did get out of bed, I wanted to get straight to work!

Agreed on facilitated events for introverts - but I'll also add that, in my experience, more people at an event often doesn't mean more opportunity - in fact, I've found that I get less quality contacts at larger, more crowded events because there's so much pressure for people to "work the room".

I can understand that to a certain extent, but I do love restaurants. Fast food restaurants, in general, have just horrendous records of mistreating their employees, and apparently this goes all the way down the supply chain as well.

I guess I was speaking as someone who was active last year and just started being active again... points used to accrue like wildfire and you almost didn't have to do anything to get them. Now I've posted a bunch of articles, made a bunch of comments and I think I got something like 10 points out of it.

NICE... I've developed a filter that automatically removes many of the bigger d'ck messages, but some still get through. Really annoying.

Ian, I've noticed both. I find that as long as you keep your comments relevant to what's being discussed, a bit of wacky is all right. But then, every blog has its own shtick. For some of the more biz-oriented blogs, the goal is to keep things simple and professional; things can get heated, but personal attacks are a clear no-no.

But the big thing about approaching bloggers who are a) prolific, and b) extremely well known, such as Seth Godin, Guy Kawasaki and others, is that they're insanely busy and already get ridiculous amounts of e-mail. They need to know that you respect their time and respect their point of view, which doesn't by any means mean you have to agree with it. That's why Jess's approach works well (better than the typical approach, which is "I just wrote this blog post that I thought you'd be interested in, etc."). It takes the time to let them know that you respect their time and wanted to pass along something related that might be of interest without overloading them with this long e-mail (much like I'm doing now).

Ah, I'm still working on the wordy thing.

That is absolutely the sweetbread you want. You want to make sure you get a nice dense one (if it's too tall, it's going to be too airy) - if there are any neighborhoods near you that have a high concentration of Portuguese folks, head down there and find a supermarket. You'll likely find good bread there.

this sounds so good! The only thing I'd substitute is actually coconut milk instead of the whole or soy milk. I'd also add a bit of cardamom, but that makes it very close to kheer, Indian rice pudding. Delicious!

It depends on where you are, I guess - here in many parts of New England (at least in Mass and Rhode Island), there are a lot of Portuguese folks, so sweetbread is fairly easy to come by in the regular supermarket or a Portuguese bakery. If you can't find some in your supermarket (check the outside aisles, where they'd have the International breads - I've even seen them near the tortillas and in the regular bread aisle), you can easily use cornbread or another type of bread to make this; it's just really nice with the Sweet Bread.

This is one of those things that's almost impossible to judge since many folks don't put their own pictures on gather, but rather pics of their dogs or their garden as their userpic.

I'm sorry, but I really can't join you on this. People are entitled to their beliefs, no matter what they are, and the movie is a work of FICTION. I fail to see how it will do any harm to the people who watch it.
