70-80% is actually quite a conservative figure for the Iranians who oppose the Islamic regime. Iran is perhaps the only country in the world where the people are pro American, whereas the government is anti American!! Iranian people do NOT support Hezbollah. In fact, they fear them and view them as terrorist thugs who do not share any of the values or concerns of the Iranian people.

What does appear to be effective is international outrage and pressure. Signing the petitions that we drafted for Nazanin and Malak proved successful in having their death sentences reversed. As such, the best way to end these medieval and horrifying acts of brutality is to raise as much international awareness and objection. To find out more about the things that you can do, visit:

International pressure via these petitions, media coverage of the specific cases, and web-activity actually were successful in saving the lives of two other Iranian women in similar situations in the past 2 years, one of whom, Nazain was released from solitary confinenement just last week after her death sentence was reversed. So I assure you that while ruling thugs in Iran could not care less about the value of human life, they do care about international pressure these days when they want to get concessions about their Nukes. Believe me, I'm not new to this. There is a method to this madness!

Thank you so much for doing so. International pressure and exposure of atrocities committed against human rights led to the reversal of Nazanin's death sentence. I am hoping that we will be successfull in doing so again in Malak's case. Please feel free to spread the word to anyone you think would be interested.

Thanks for the kind words. I am not only aware of the risks, but I am actually forced to deal with them on a daily basis. None the less, As Dr. Homayoun brilliantly pointed out in his article, freedom of speech and expression is the greatest tool to expose acts of horror, give voice to those who can not speak for themselves, and foster and promote change in a positive fashion. As such, I will continue to speak out against such atrocities, regardless of the associated risks. After all, I, myself, could have been one of the Nazanin's of this world, and I would have wanted to someone to stand up and speak for me when I could not do so myself.

I support this effort whole-heartedly. For when someone commits murder, he/she takes away the victim's life. However, when a man rapes a girl or a woman, he takes away her soul, leaving her forevever with a wound that time can NEVER heal.
