I don't think there was a single one of us that wasn't touched by Rob in some way. A comment, a funny story, or a kudo. I'm very sad to hear he passed away.

For years, I've done my Christmas shopping (all year round really) online because I don't drive. I also have a disability (fibromyalgia) that makes it hard to go from store to store looking for things. I don't mind paying an online tax. As you say, it depends on who gets the tax. That's why I said that it looks to me that eventually all states will be collecting taxes for online purchases.

Speaking of taxes, and this is a bit of a sideways topic...When we lived in Florida from 1988 to 1992 my husband was working across the border in Georgia. We had to pay GA state taxes even though we lived in FL because GA was the state where he was employed. He worked for the Navy (not in the Navy) and so when we tallied up our income at tax time, we deducted the days he was on leave/vacation at home in FL because he wasn't in the state of GA when he was earning that money. I never knew if that was kosher, but we never got a nasty gram from the state of GA.

I have a feeling that it's going to be the norm nationwide within a few short years. Big businesses won't be able to use the excuse that it's too hard to calculate anymore.

Next thing you know, they'll want road signs in English and Spanish. We need to stop kow towing to the easily offended. I think this costume is hilarious and I also see it for what it is.

I've downloaded several free ebooks from Barnes and Noble when they have been offered. Not trashy ones either. Good choices and variety. I just wish I had a Kindle. Maybe if I make enough money on Gather I can buy one, huh? Thanks for the great information in this article.

I think these practices could be used in a multitude of ways. Since my personal interest happens to be in genealogy, I saw how much reasoning goes into the research that I do. I won't address each guideline as it would make this answer too long, but it's an interesting exercise I might want to explore in a future article on my genealogy blog iPentimento - Genealogy and History. I've always been the kind of person who wondered just 'why' people do what they do. Keeping in mind the guidelines will be very helpful. Thanks for asking me to come look at this article.

Your son is just a year younger than ours then. We have a friend that worked at NHosp for many years: Robert Finley. He just retired last year as a Command Master Chief.

I should confess...I dipped the snake in some catnip, but not for the picture. I do that with many of his toys just to make them more interesting.

He is innocent...most of the time. A couple years ago my friend brought her three cats here to our house and we tried to get them to 'meet'. The other cats are twice his size and weight but he was so shocked to see them he went after them and had all three cowering under the bed in their room. I felt so bad! That was when Rocky found his voice. I didn't know such a loud howl could come from a little guy like him. And the hissing...I thought he was going to run out of hiss like a balloon! Ever since then, he loves the sound of his own voice and meows in every room that will give him a good echo. Little toad.
