Thank you for this article. I have a thirteen year old daughter is is suicidal. I just had to put her in a hospital for three weeks and am constantly on gaurd for behaviors, threats and idealations. I'm in constant fear for her life and your article really hit home to me. Thank you for the very touching post.

Thank you for allowing me to stop and think about our father again. Reading your poem was the unexpected highlight of my day. I recently found some photos of him at our last thanksgiving...you know, eat the phone day.....so finding those lost photos and reading your poem really brought me somemuch needed

I am sorry for what you and your family are going through. My thoughts are definitely with you. Be strong, your daughter and grandkids need you. I hope that she will realize that it is not worth it to stay in such an unhealthy relationship. But unfortunately it will just take time. Hang in there.

I'm not educated enough on drugs to really comment, all I know is that two men died who used an extreme amount of drugs. If they had used drugs recreationally hey, that would have been their call to make. But it was beyond recreational use and they did pay a price for it. Children are fatherless because of this. They weren't just hurting themselves. It may have worked out in your life, and it sounds like it did, but for these two it didn't. And that's what saddens me. It didn't have to be that way.

Very interesting points. BUt I do think its tragic how they turned out, living a life full of drugs and surrounded by enablers. People were making a living off of their addictions and did not have their best interest at heart. I'm sure life was wonderful but there was a part of their life that they would not wish on anyone, no matter how rich or famous or not. Its tragic that drugs contributed to their premature deaths. So they didn't have to die at 42 and fifty. Well the reports aren't in for Michael so I'm not going to say that drugs had anything to do with his death but it sure seems like it. But Elvis'd drug use certainly contributed to his death and that part of his life certainly could not have been a happy part. He did live larger than life, that included drugs, and as a result cut short his life.

Under the definition of pedophile he sounds like he fits as one. Whether activities took place we'll never know. He was an odd one and I'd like to believe that it was all innocent and childish intentions on his part, but no one will ever know. I'd like to think that he had just created a ranch where he would have liked to have when he was a kid and not some attractive lure for kids. I don't know what I think. I think that there is a good chance nothing happened and that he was just an odd childlike man. He lived in his own world by his own rules and didn't understand boundaries. Did anything inappropriate take place? I just can't say.
