I know how you feel. There seem to be less sunny days metaphorically and actually in the fall and winter. Depression is a horrible thing we can't escape, even with meds. I've lived at least half of my life in denial and still often refuse to admit that it could be a chemical imbalance (out of my control). Hang in there girlfriend. Your book will be there soon and hopefully those stories will carry you away to another time and place. Hugs

My favorite part is "full of promise and danger..." because it's so true. Your poetry is always extraordinary and this one is no exception, but it feels straight from the heart, as though you let you guard down a bit more than usual. It's like soul food and I loved it. It definitely resonates.

On the way home from work today, I stopped to get gas and noticed a homeless man cuddling his dog. I bought him and his dog some dinner and chatted with him a bit. I'll go back in the next few days to take him a blanket or two. He mentioned that he lives in the river bed. Dreadful circumstance and a terrible way to spend Thanksgiving. Your poem is sensitive and poignant. You have a gift, Chris. Thank you for posting to The Poet's Circle.
