Me: "Hello, who is this? Who?"
Social Worker (on her first case): "We're coming to get your baby!"
Me: "What?"
Social Worker: "We've had a report that your baby is in imminent danger of dying."
Me: 'May I please speak with your supervisor?"
Social Worker: "I'm sorry, he's busy."
Stunned I hung up. My immedite reaction was to take my baby and flee. The problem was that I had nowhere to go and no money.
I phoned Bill and Charlie to come home immediately!
Second Call from BCW:
I explained that I lived and taught in the same neighborhood, and that an entourage of state officials arriving at the apartment and removing the baby would hardly go unnoticed.
We agreed to meet at the hospital.
