How long have you been a member? There are lots of sites on the internet that claim to pay money - and everyone assumes that means they pay a decent amount of money. In reality, most of them pay a few pennies, and it will take you hours and hours of effort to earn a dollar.

Existing members often don't reveal their earnings, because they can earn money by recruiting other people to the site. In fact, they can earn MORE money by recruiting other people than they do by using the site. So it's in their interest to be misleading or vague.

Having said all that, I have no idea whether Wellness 360 is worth doing or not - take a hard look at your earnings rate so far and decide for yourself.

I don't think it's courage either - personally, I sometimes wonder if it's plain stupidity! I'm one of those people who tend to come out and say what everyone else is thinking - naming the elephant in the room. I had one boss say, "You're very frank, aren't you?" and he didn't mean it as a compliment! Often there's an ultimate benefit because I opened my mouth and raised an issue that needed addressing, but at the same time, I've copped a lot of flak for doing it.

That's not bravery, that's just me following my natural instincts. I tend to speak (or write) from my values and instincts rather than stopping to think first. I think that has more to do with poor social skills (I spent a lot of my childhood isolated through illness) - knowing when to shut up and not "rock the boat" is an important part of co-existing peacefully with other people.

I can vouch for the fact this is true. Who knows whether it is hormones being stimulated or self-worth - I think it may also be the simple fact that if you're fitter, you have more stamina. So many of us work long hours these days and are too tired for sex. When I made the effort to get more exercise, I wasn't so tired at the end of the day so it was more likely I'd be in the mood come bedtime!

I just joined, and your rant was the first thing I saw. Thanks for indirectly educating me on the unspoken rules of Gather!

I'm a member at HubPages and had a similar exchange on the forums there. I think there are two opposing views here and one side will never persuade the other - personally, I'll comment on an article if I genuinely have something to say, and not otherwise. At the other extreme, you'll find people who say it's "only common courtesy" to reciprocate comments, and even to comment to thank everyone who comments on your own posts. Phew!
