Lately I have been reading a few YA books. I agree wih you when you say books for YA has to be filled with hope. Darkness is not bad as long as there is positive endings. Children are influenced easily enough. Also they have insights which is unknown to adults.

Your review of the book is very good.

One of my all time favourite books is Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte. I like the strong character of Jane!
