Most talked about in the world??? Hardly. Maybe in the US but not the world, have you heard of the french soccer star Henry and the goal scored against Ireland using o his hand to control the ball. Now that's world wide news.

Hi Mary F I suppose one could see him as cute!! however he became a menace aboard ship and our Captain said he'd shot the idiot who brought him aboard if he ever found out who it was. The monkey was not house (ship) trained and almost impossible to catch. He climbed the mainmast fouled the radio antenna and forced us to shut down the radar sweep. He also spilled a gal of white paint over the bridge area. He was not a popular shipmate and we had to clean up his many messes. He was eventually caught and returned to the jungle on one of the small islands we visited

As a Canadian living beside a Giant neighbour we also feel all your economy woes. But surely you can't blame Obama for failing to keep promises, name a politician that has kept one in the last 100 years. Certainly Governments are to blame for a lot of our problems but they can't be held responsible for everything. Take GM-Chrysler, they build rubbish cars and wonder why we don't buy them? Like the US our government gave millions to them just to keep them afloat. But at the same time let our farmers fall into bankruptcy. Is that saying cars are more important than cabbage???? I wont get into the billions being wasted in the Middle East wars.

Oh Boy!! such bitterness. I'm Canadian (Irish immigrant 50 years ago) citizen and here everyone has medical coverage that is paid thru our (high) taxes. I know its not a prefect system but it is good and leaves me without worry (70 year old) about paying health costs. I know there are always people cheating the system, on welfare but can't afford food yet always seem to have money for cigarettes or booze. The problem is we can't separate the cheaters from the needy and I'd rather contribute knowing I'm helping a child in need even if the mother buys cigs. Its not a perfect world many governments are corrupt and or dishonest. The wealthy get richer, its the same old story and good people are caught in the middle paying. I guess my answer is grin and bear it!!!

If you think you've got problems in NYC try living on Prince Edward Island. In 1996 they built a bridge to the mainland. It cost $35 to cross and return, now its up to $43 and  rising every year. There is a summer ferry at the East end of the Island but it costs $65 over and back. It throws visitors because coming to the island there is no charge. But you can't get off without paying. Add to that $1.04 per liter for gas (and rising) and I'm begining to see myself like Robinson Crusoe maroon and unable to afford to leave. Plus there is no seniors discount

As a child I suffered from bed wetting, it often happened whilst I was dreaming I was using the toilet or the chamber pot. Once I was crying in my sleep because the chamber pot was full but I couldn't stop peeing! I'm an adult now and don't wet the bed or rarely dream. Once when I was about eleven I was being chased, don't know by who, and was shot, it seemed so very real at the time, I felt myself falling after the bullet hit me, it woke me up and I really thought I'd been shot? Strange or what????

Hi Lee.P  I agree Jesus is the way and the light, my faith is my strength. However my question remains a mystery to me. Why would Jesus spend three days in hell. For what purpose, to what end?????? No person as yet given me a satisfactory answer.

Hello Barbara, thank you for your kind comments. I did indeed write Sheila in 2000, I managed to make contact via the internet with someone she worked with on the Isle of Wight. Sheila did not own or use a computer so I wrote her two letters, alas she never replied to either. Why? I have no idea. But as I said in my story, trying to relive ones past doesn't work. In 1952 we were both twelve years old, writing letters was not something we'd have thought of. It seemed at the time we'd never meet again. Sadly, when we did meet again in 1961 Sheila was married. I'm over seventy years old now and believe its not always healthy trying to rethink ones youth, the question of 'what if' is never going to happen. Better to just retain those far off and fond memories

I never call myself a writer or think of myself as an author, but other people do. Probably because they know I write or have read my books and stories. When in bed trying to sleep I sometimes do my best writing, alas without paper. The next day I can recall most and put it to good use. I have a simple rule when working on a book. Write at least one word every day. Try this and you will be surprised how much you can accomplish - Irishrover

Ishbel I have kissed it twice, in 1963 and in 2006. The second time was much more difficult I really had to stretch my lips to reach the stone. Climbing the tower wasn't easy either!!!
