Interesting conversations here. I must say that this past week when I was free I took a look at the search results I did when I queried in the terms manythose and site:blogspot.com . It's amazing and disgusting to watch the very hostile responses from both men and women towards guys wearing tights even for health and comfort reasons. I did notice that most of the hostile responses came from women more than men. I saw you Steve on some of those sites kicking back at them and trying to cut down on the poison and negativity on those blogs from time to time. I also noticed that a lot of those same narrow-minded women, usually in their early 20s putting up their fashion sites and getting too sassy and showy in their tights are the type who will obsess about fashion at large and even make themselves look like bigshots by bragging about looking great in H&M bought clothing and all. It is this kind of fashion madness that are pushing women into pressuring themselves into getting sort of dressy and pushing men and women into incorrectly thinking that guys are perverts for wearing tights or even skirts and short shorts. These narrow-minded folks want to create the fear that tights are being marketed for fetish-only purposes and are further trying to push this by relying on too showy girls to dominate the scene. That was what put my friend Ranjit into fear of wearing hose. This is probably what also made his parents humiliate him when he was a teenagers trying on tights to see what it was like. It all starts in childhood years as a matter of fact. If young boys and girls can be snapped out of their fixed ideas that tights/pantyhose are only for women to wear for fashion purposes, then this intolerant and fashionista madness can be cured. I'll probably have more to say on this matter as I continue to research this trend and try to figure out some cures.

I don't see where I was putting words in your mouth, just asked for clarification because I obviously didn't understand you. But after you explained in another post the cruelty your school did to young ladies including yourself by requiring them to wear pantyhose, I understand. My apologies.

Hi kelldogg,

I'm sorry to hear what happened to you in your younger days in school. Yes, that kind of an experience can be tough to erase from one's mind. They had no business torturing young women like that. It sounds similar to a friend of mine who hated wearing ties after his school required it. No man or woman should be made to hate certain clothing by being required to wear it in school. Very sad.

Exactly. Some women will insist that just because they don't like pantyhose that their men shouldn't either. Each individual deserves to have their right to choose to wear whether or not to wear pantyhose. If kelldogg is going to get turned off because her guy wears pantyhose shows that she does not understand that men have their rights too. Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying that women shouldn't have rights. I just don't believe in dividing up genders and creating societal intolerance from it. I may want to wear a kilt while my fiancee wants to wear trousers but it doesn't make us perverts.

I think that the only way we're really going to see the trend sustaining is if both men and women team up. Women's rights came when both genders teamed up and knew that they were exploited. Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying that men fighting for their rights to wear tights openly like women without support from women is bound to fail. However, it will be much harder. For example, back at comfilon.com, there are a lot of out of stock listings and all because one supplier closes their shop. This keeps the price of male pantyhose higher to the point that most men who are for wearing pantyhose will feel that they might as well go right ahead and buy the default women's brand that are cheap. What's not realized is that the only reason women's pantyhose are artificially cheaper is women have been conditioned into thinking "disposable" when it comes to buying tights or pantyhose. What has to happen is that both men and women have to realize that they are both being divided upon and "cheaped" out. As a matter of fact, I gave my fiancee a couple of pairs of the male version of pantyhose without the fly and she actually found them even better than the regular women's brands. 2 months and no runs or holes ! In fact, she told me that except for the ones $15 and up, most pairs usually below $10 were quicker to run into runs and holes no matter how perfect her nails were or for that matter her shoes.

Steve has been discussing about the need for men not to feel timid while wearing them. While I assume that you probably are not timid about wearing them, getting annoyed at anyone gazing at you just because you wear pantyhose is what you have to overcome or else you are likely to be more timid about wearing pantyhose under your shorts or skirt. I've been getting training from my fiance and when I wear them under my shorts, she thinks I look like a brave knight. The advice Steve has given for men wearing pantyhose in public could very well apply to women too who are afraid that wearing them openly under shorts or skirts will warrant unwanted attention. I guess both men and women need to overcome their timidity of wearing nylons under shorts and skirts in public.

By the way, when I looked up suntan and nude color nylons for men, I can't seem to find any manufacturer that carries them.

I cannot believe more production is wasted on phoney "maternity" tights while tights for men are being cut back on varieties or even discontinued by certain manufacturers ! Why should women be allowed to flaunt themselves in tights while pregnant anyway ?!?

Good luck with skirts for men. It's already a long shot getting society to accept guys in tights. Skirts will be even harder especially now that those phoney "liberals" are now in charge and women can keep complaining about men getting more than them even as they have longer life expectancies and more to choose from.

P.S.: In Singapore, did you know that women are "free" to wear really short shorts but athletic guys in shorts and tights are arrested for get this, "dressing obscenely" ?!?

Don't get me wrong. I'm not a misogynist and I believe in equal rights for both genders but not one gender overtaking the other. Sorry to ramble.

Getting married doesn't make one happy right away. If you weren't a happy single, it's probably not likely to get better once married. Besides, just because you're single and 44, man or woman, doesn't mean you can't make and enjoy the best of yourself.

That's why there are tights for men in a slightly different design. Pay attention and do your homework. It's easy to find out if you ever bothered to use google to query "tights for men" or even male pantyhose. As for your comments on the fashion part being dumb, haven't you ever seen what men were dressed like in the Middle Ages? They wore tights (maybe not the nylon type but smooth and even just like today's), skirts, and believe it or not even heels and boots back in those days. Instead of showing intolerance and ignorance, you need to study your history and learn to be tolerant. I, for one, am sick and tired of women who complain about men controlling their freedom when in fact the opposite is also true and yet is not discussed. I could say that women wearing ties, pant suits, and even trousers is stupid but I don't and in fact respect the fashion. Why should women be allowed to take over everything men wear and yet limit men's fashion at large?

By the way, a survey not too long ago showed that when asked to choose between a rapist and a harmless cross dresser, women choose the former by a margin of 5 to 1 ! So who do you call the pervert? A guy wearing tights or the woman dating a rapist?

My friend thinks the reason is due to political reasons. When it comes to men's legwear, both the liberals and conservatives screw it up big time. Most conservatives will make it look like it's a sin for a guy to wear tights/pantyhose because somehow he's committing a sin of throwing away his manhood. For liberals, it's even worse. In fact, I would say that even more than conservatives, liberals who make a big fuss about women's rights go out of their way perceiving men who dress in legwear as somehow "threats" to their fashion as my friend told me. In fact, one of the ladies at his workplace who claims to be a liberal but is really an arrogant bossy snob calls men who wear tights or pantyhose misogynists ! I think that all those women fashion magazines and shows also fear running out of business if men were to be allowed to wear pantyhose/tights. Liberals always cry about helping and saving women even as they degrade the status of men. They could learn some lessons from Ralph Nader for a change and cut the gender politics out for a real change. Sorry about the politics but I think it has to do with this a lot.

Society is often to blame for its lack of tolerance. Don't feel discouraged. I think men and women deserve to be free to choose what they want to wear and the society must practice tolerance. The only reason women are supposed to be the ones wearing tights and having "sexy" legs is they are set up from birth on the gender divide. Men are too and are often mentally coerced into accepting the role of being macho egotistical. Women meanwhile are convinced that men have to be macho "strong" and that any man who tries to step back and think, be reasonable, or even moderate is to be shunned as a "sissy". The macho egotistical disease has plagued both men and women for decades. With the way this country is crumbling on all fronts, the age of INTOLERANCE must end.

The problem with women the likes of Stephanie L. and Jean A. is the same problem certain men had against women, their inability to tolerate. There is nothing perverse about a man's right to choose to wear tights. I'll bet if Stephanie and Jean each had to choose between dating a rapist vs one who wears tights, they'd each choose a rapist. Now that's being a pervert.

Women can wear everything men can wear but not vice versa. In fact, I used to be able to wear shorts that were smooth and didn't have too many pockets. Nowadays, I'm stuck with choosing pleated vs roughwear. In trying to look for navy blue shorts that were cotton smooth, I kept finding the men's version out of stock and had to buy one from the women's section. Luckily, the shorts looked unisex enough that no one could tell that I was wearing a woman's shorts. My girlfriend teased me at first and even tickled me every time I'd wear them but she is tolerant. In fact, she thinks that if I try on some tights and pantyhose and wear them at least under my pants that I would understand women better. Maybe there's some truth to all that.
