Isn't that just a bit too narcissistic? There's one person (whom I won't name) who also goes to the same performance space and his songs are completely atrocious. Yet everyone gives him a pat on the back and bends the truth in order not to offend because he's a "regular" there. But the truth is that he can't hold a pitch to save his life, and it's an ordeal to suffer through his pretentious crap.

God help me if I ever end up like that.

First off, there are plenty of other ways I can endeavor as an artist without having to inflict my personal suffering onto others. It's not as if there weren't other forms where I can be creative. I never really felt all that comfortable performing my songs for others, so I can't say I have had much fun. The audiences have always been intimate and it has only been for sharing, not for any financial gain.

I can't say I've made a single penny, though I am pretty deep in debt after buying stuff that I thought I could use to record my songs. But I still can't stand to hear my voice in an objective manner, because it always sounds bad all by itself.

Right now is a time of deep examination of my motives and my true talents, whatever they may be.

This poem is based on the reality of having said something to someone that I cannot take back no matter how much I wish I could. I was in a lot of pain, but I sent a letter to someone that turned out to be most hurtful to his psyche. After looking at what I sent to him, I felt I wronged him deeply. I cannot fix this mistake, for he will no longer receive mail from me.

The shame of this mistake is one I will carry for the rest of my life.

One thing to be very wary over is some of the really unbelievable "bargains" that aren't all that great. I once bought a $30 microwave oven at a Grocery Outlet and within one month it was dangerously "on" all the time when I'd shut the door...but without the fan running. So I bit the bullet and got a decent name-brand microwave that has been with me for three years so far, still going strong.

But I won't be getting a digital TV cause I have digital cable. Some things are worth paying for, and as long as this old TV holds out I will hold out on buying a digital TV.

Medicare didn't used to be a disaster until Big Pharma were assured they could pass along high prescription costs under Part D through privately-run insurance companies. Only the most direly poor could qualify for extra help and avoid the "donut hole" that pushes unlimited prescription drug bills onto the elderly. So, before Part D Medicare was a completely different program, and one that worked very well to keep down costs for medical care at a managable level.

I know because as a disabled person, I most certainly qualify for "extra help" with my prescription costs. I paid into Social Security with my payroll taxes, so I earned my disability check--as meager as it is, it's better than nothing at all--through my payroll taxes. God help me if it weren't there for me. Anyway, I saw the whole transition to Part D and it was and still is an awful mess because of runaway prescription drug costs.

That's what the "private sector" can do to a well-run government-run program. I saw it for myself, and I know from whence I speak. I could never think of anything run by human beings as "perfect" in any way, but why did they have to break what didn't need fixing?

Thanks for sharing this. I feel less crazy when I think that God is giving me messages--you'd be surprised how many of my friends put me down for thinking that.
