Musical mania sometimes clouds my mind, but then my Muse leaves me at times with only one of the Guardians to watch me sleeping, who are invisible and less talkative of course. You are right, the kittens are wiser than the cats, though less resourceful, mind you.

I sometimes wonder about your writing's sources. I hope all your children, spiritual and otherwise, are doing well.

There are lies that are the most dishonest, the lies that are meant to deceive the hearer, as well as oneself. I have unintentially been untruthful in part because I honestly could not recall. To then recall the truth is embarassing, but the truth then told can also be more honest than others, and the whole of the truth is also told at the end. Who is more at fault, one who lies to cause harm, or one who is then silent to maintain the full truth from harming both? Some are a riddle to themselves and make those who would by and large defend them dissembled to themselves. I part from those who make lies as a matter of course. It gives me chills to be around them.

Thanks for the pictures and relating your Christmas. Mine was more subdued. My folks have a dog much similar to yours named Jessie. My nephew brought his dog over to throw the ball around.

My celebration of the season is to pause and listen to the church bells, but my profession of faith is more individual. My hometown pastor held service outside at times and it is a great way to have a short retreat from the world.

There is no such thing as cheap wine, only over-indulgence with a MadDog wine or what has gone stale. The best of the grape I have had was sparkling in a cottage.

The red letter days are not always marked, but I think all of us recall those we celebrate, or remember fondly. Your haiku is much better than this poor scribes. Goodnight All.

WolfHound slumbers peacefully, yet his shadow remains.
Circling in the distance, a crow calls to another and sends greetings.
Disappointed the Smoking Man recalls past episodes.
Melancholy muse, the audio turned low, the picture suddenly moves to,
another erratic window, open to melody.

There is a time to fish or cut bait, as the saying goes.

I agree Nirvana is elusive, but the things change, the more they remain the same. Nirvana is not perfection, at least to me, it is peace of mind and harmony. Is that to say you fake it until you make it? Time will tell the tail.

Too true Kushal. They are troublesome in groups, but relay messages well one to another. They are the messengers of late that I call to among the birds, once my annoyance for the most part.

Hi Dennis:

I have two pet peeves about driving:

Those who tailgate, following too close behind,

and those who try to outrun a traffic light that is changing.

Make it three: those who talk on their cell phone while the car is in motion. Whether or not they are on speakerphone or bluetooth. It is almost always unnecessary and a distraction as bad as drunk driving.

The islands and oceans that I have never seen with my eyes are calling, the sands of precious soft sand between my toes would be a welcome respite. I will settle for a pint and some sweetened water to soothe my senses. My muse is missing, but my guardian angel that has never told me a name is ever present. From here I walk to tomorrow, yet I count the days past for the sake of knowing numbers, as if they were not devoid of form without their sources. It's not just the Democrats or Repubs that are on this kick towards a draft. Afghanistan is not going to be the next Vietnam for this President. He is holding the Kennedy torch in more ways than one. Do you remember the old men of the Republican party praising the lack of a peacetime draft, and the quality of today's forces? The real obstacle is convincing the President and those in power that they don't have to be gung-ho to be a force for good, and that the dirty politics of the past should be over. Oh, I hear sirens again, or is that synchronicity?

There are many brands of conservatism in the US (note the small "c"). There are neo-conservatives, fiscal conservatives, fundamental conservates, etc. Usually when someone says they are conservative without qualifying it, they mean only fiscally conservative, or when in another context, politically conservative on social issues. Some Catholics are liberal on social issues, being against the death penalty and against abortion. at least on a pragmatic basis as to how the law is applied.

I have said I am conservative in the past, but I am more pragmatic than the neo-cons, as they are called, that is to say I believe the Bill of Rights was established to be applied, and I would not support a Constitutional Convention. I am much more liberal than many in other regards, but I am against the practice of the death penalty for a number of reasons. Perhaps, by my statement you get a sense of the complication of the use of the word. Just as liberal is not a curse word, conservative isn't either.

What memories there may be in the blackness, between the times when you are aware. Your first poem speaks to the helplessness of the man and the loss of the boy poignantly. Sometimes the words are few with those that are estranged by distance rather than choice. There are times when I remember my grandparents, and I don't write them down or speak of them.

The time that passes with no memory is a worry, but it passes quickly.

The second, the mushroom and wheyish words echo something more, but I would save that for another day. The echoes that are in my room now frighten me. Not because of their words, but of the lack of trust they engender. They pass in the alley below, or are from a dvd player or sound recording and the only way I can pay attention to things is to play something on my headset or radio. I feel ill the last few days. Rain is on the way.
