Not too sure about your specific issue, but Java 6 SP 10 has introduced a new structure that may be arguing with Firefox. Unless you're a developer you don't have to have Java 6 for too many things right now (YMMV of course).

You could just go to java.sun.com and search for jdk5, download and install that. It will add jave support for firefox.

I watched most of the episodes of this show...it was REALLY hit and miss. The one with Remar (the show with PI working out his issues Carlos P. referred to) was emblematic of the bad ones).

Some good ones:

- a show about a bride who is passed a note just before her wedding with a terrible secret about...someone.

- A zombie uprising (I know, ho-hum) with an interesting point of view;

- "Skin and Bones" - A rancher lost in the hills for weeks who comes back emaciated and hungry...but kinda picky about what he wants to eat.

They were interesting but tended to be really big on setup and small on payoff - they frequently just ended, usually at a critical moment.

Anthology horror has been the dream of network television since Rod Serling took everyone to writing school and you see about 1 of these per year. This one - eh. Don't know if it will be back; it wasn't the crud-fest that was "Masters of Science Fiction" but it wasn't really what you'd call good.

Duane - thanks for the comment. I want to update it for current events and I keep adding to it - have a hard time leaving my drafts alone :)

There are two parties to every transaction - the borrower and the lender. Both have duties, and you can't generalize to every case but it's safe to say that many, many people have a hand in this, private and public.

I'm just really disappointed that there isn't more of an effort to explain the stakes involved here; it's really easy to play the catastrophe card without describing exactly what is at stake.

The revisions to the bill to make it "better" - packing it with the usual combination of income reductions and expenditure increases - demonstrates the agenda at work here. It makes me miss the days of Ross Perot when fiduciary prudence at least got a little lip service.

This is a great show (for adults). This season seems to be a lot more about the other characters, which is a nice change. Anyone who saw read Doc Savage and Jonny Quest as a kid will find something to laugh at here, but -this is not a kid's show- most definitely NSFK.

D.B. D. - you're right - that news story isn't exactly a police report. It was just my attempt at a real-world example of the risk to bystanders in a gunfight. I added a link from the Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association (FLEOA) with much more detail (and PR) about the incident.

The original item was about the man being severely beaten at Valleyfair by 8 attackers. None of them actually had a gun, but of course there'd be no way to know that at the time.

This was originally the beginning of a series of horror stories inspired by a short story in the book "Dead Lines" by John Skipp and Craig Spector. I wanted to make kind of an anthology out of it, but I could never come up with a decent backstory - I liked the idea of some kind of general awakening of beasties, but everything turns out CGI-intensive or silly.

I was hoping for some kind of inspiration along the lines of David Gerrold's The War Against the Chtorr series but he's done that so well it seems like I would have little to add to it.
