Nanina, you so beautifully make my point:

I believe it is wrong for anyone to use any book including the bible in a manner that is used to lead people to devalue or hurt others.

So by simply disagreeing with you, I have devalued or hurt others. If you read the passages listed above there is no confusion about what it says. There is no other "interpretation". God emphatically states that he detests homosexuality, just like he does every other sin.

Ok so we don't share the same view point. That doesn't make us enemies. My whole point here is that view points can be stated; evidence can be levied and weighed; but you don't have to resort to Ad hominem tactics.

Whether you agree or disagree with the Bible is your right, just like calling into question sexual preference is mine. Debate and judge my view point on its own merit, but don't label me a hater simply because I disagree.

Well if you take this debate to its logical conclusion, then you feel that you should have all of the rights that are afforded heterosexuals because you have an attraction to the same sex.

Because you are attracted to the same sex, it must be right, therefore you should be able to endulge in your desire. Based on this logic anyone should be afforded rights based on their orientation toward certain things.

What do we tell the man, who as far back as he can remember has been attracted to children? Any pedophile will most likely say the same thing a homosexual does: I didn't ask to be sexually attracted to children. However, just because I have a desire, doesn't necessarily mean I have the right to endulge it.

Also, the fact the you are being deprived of your "right" to marry isn't because anyone hates you; its because lawmakers disagree with homosexuality. You see the difference here is, I could be your neighbor and we could sit down and have a long debate about homosexuality and at the end agree to disagree with each other's view point and walk away and still be friendly neighbors.

But based on your comment above, this is not the case because anyone who disagrees with you is a hater. It can't simply be that someone disagrees with you.

You misunderstand. This isn't about rejecting anyone. It is simply about stating a point of few about homosexuality and the gay culture that surrounds it. As it stands, I would call homosexuality a sin, yet not hate the homosexual who commits the sin. This is why it seems this issue just keeps going around in circles.

To all of you who read these posts, you can't seem to understand that if a person disagrees with your lifestyle choices, that doesn't mean they hate you. I happen to know several homosexuals that I respect for various reasons, yet I can still disagree with their homosexuality.

You all don't seem to get it yet that disagreement does not equal hate.

There is nothing to defend, the article speaks for itself. However, I would note that disagreeing with the act of engaging in sex with a person of the same sex (for whatever reason), does not constitute hate speech, bigotry, or homophobia. I can say that a behavior is wrong for whatever reasons I might have, yet not necessarily hate the person engaging in the behavior. We can vigorously debate the reasoning why I believe a behavior is wrong and still not have to walk away enemies.

I'm fully away that many of you who are commenting are very intelligent people. So debate the facts, refute the facts, etc. Don't label me a hater though, that's silly. What would make me a hater is what I do with my belief that a certain behavior is wrong.

Larry: I used the word terrorism because in the case of this article and in its sister article about the gay rights movement, this card gets pulled out every time you disagree with their point of view.

Maybe I could have done a better job at communicated my thoughts as the main point that I was trying to make is the hypocrisy involved in each of these movements. First, the civil rights movement is quick to cry racism, racism...we are holding the black man down; when in fact in many situations the opposite is true.

In the case of the gay rights movement, you can't even disagree with that lifestyle. Anyone who disagrees, is automatically a bigot, hater, or a homophobe.

I have the utmost respect and honor for our military, but I felt that terrorism is a fitting word because it allegorically discribes how we are being held hostage by the fear-mongering and bullying the gay rights movement or civil rights movement does when they pull the racism or homophobia card.

I'll add one more note here. My objective really isn't to pick a fight with any of you, or to spread homosexual hate propaganda. It is simply to bring attention to the spin and rhetoric that often comes from the militant side of the Gay Rights movement.

We could debate the veracity of homosexuality and its moral implications, yet still walk away and shake hands. I would encourage everyone to learn to debate your case and not just take the lazy way out of labeling everyone haters.

Those questions are not intended to be rhetorical.

I stand by the original point:

If anyone says that homosexuality is wrong for whatever reason, albeit religious, moral or whatever, they are automatically branded a "hater" or "homophobic". Essentially you are saying that if I disagree with your view, I'm a hater, a bigot, or a homophobe.

If you disagree with my view what does it make you?

I can say that homosexuality is sin, yet not be homophobic or a bigot. In fact, I have several homosexual friends. To debate the morality of homosexuality is one thing; to automatically label someone who disagrees with the homosexual lifestyle is no different than what Christians are being accused of: hypocrisy.

The larger point of the article is that militant homosexuals label all Christians as homophobic bigots for simply disagreeing with your lifestyle. Again, we can disagree with your lifestyle, and still like you as a person.

Is this not hypocrisy on your part?

Mainly we are just reporting the news and addressing an ongoing debate that is full of rhetoric and spin. The over arching point is just because someone disagrees with your sexual preference doesn't make them homophobic. As in the case of the article, if a person calls homosexuality a sin they are branded homophobic.

I'm sure many will point out that the above post is homophobic simply because it states the alternative view. The agenda or point of the post is to point out that you can disagree with a behavior and not hate the person doing it.
