I love the idea of exploring what's behind the curtain because you are right- many women do portray themselves as powerful wizards when they are vulnerable and lost. I was just saying that with respect to this particular tragedy, I'd hate to see the families victimized again by people who are looking to spin a best seller or make a movie and who don't care that they are infringing on the survivor's right to heal in private... I'd hate to see their hearts trampled by people who traffic in entertainment.

Thank you for wanting me in our nation's capital, but I would rather be in labor having root canal on a bad hair day than go into politics. I am way too flawed and also my feelings get hurt very easily (you'd think being an author I would have learned to toughen up between the rejection and criciticsm- but I'm a big baby). But thanks for your vote of confidence and if I ever change my mind, you can be my campaign manager (please cut your ties to any lobbying firms asap).

I agree with you Jennifer that Palin's cheer of drill, drill, drill is not the answer and never was, unless you're Exxon or Mobile. Barack's plan though still untested, it at least forward thinking. At least he's trying to bring real change to Washington, at least he's talking about the issues and not hiding behind pigs in lipstick... At least he's not leading the way with all this fear mongering... What is so tragic about this election season is not just that the Republicans are doing the same dance, it's that they are lying and manipulating the discussions and praying that people are so ignorant and so involved in their private lives that they won't take the time to demand the truth from their candidates. I beg people, whatever their party affiliation or views, to not allow their candidates to wallow in deception and deviciveness for the sake of a vote. There is way too much at stake.

I agree with you Jennifer, about it's up to the writer to be as convincing as possible. Still, there is a fine line between plausible and NFW (no friggin way). Todays news is in the latter category and the story keeps getting stranger and stranger. Now word is out that Sarah P doesn't believe in separation of church and state... seriously, I couldn't make this up if I tried. I'm not that good, lol....

Thank you Ellen, and I agree that anyone who takes the time to connect with an author is deserving a sincere reply. Unfortunately, with spam filters, you're not always sure the reader is getting your email reply and then you worry that they'll hate you and tell all their friends... Meanwhile, it's fantastic that the Internet has opened this vast door of communication for all of us. They should bring back that commercial for the phone company, "We're all connected." We really are... As for Tracy not hearing from Ben & Jerry's... you should write back and tell them you thought of a name for a new flavor: TakeAhike!

Touche Paul! I should do that, lol... As for Vikki's concern about sounding ridiculous, there is no such thing when it comes to telling any artist that you enjoy their work. There is so much negativity out there, so much rejection and criticism, any praise or kind words means the world. There is no bad way to say I appreciate what you've created.

It also annoys me to no end when a supposed "beauty expert" points out something on my face or neck that "surely I want to repair." It's like excuse me, I just wanted a new mascara... and you are so right Carla about the message that our daughters are getting. They're growing up thinking that everything from their hair color to their breast size to their pale skin has to be picture perfect or else... don't get me started on the way that tanning salons are putting people at risk. Seriously.... is it worth it????

Thank you Carla... yes, the relationships in this book were the whole focus. Some we choose, others are thrust on us, but in every case we have to deal. It's easy when we like the people who come into our lives. If we can't stand them- oh boy. We're challenged in more ways than we can imagine... I'm so glad you enjoyed it! It's also about not being so quick to pass judgement on people, which we all do because really, who has time to get to know anyone anymore?
