You can read Kindle books on your computer without having a Kindle. It's pretty cool, and from a writer standpoint it opens up more readers for your books. :)

My husband and I have two dachshunds and are in the process of adopting a retired racing greyhound (we're going to tell people they're all from the same litter...) For now, I'll divide it between our current two:

J.D.:

Drags any socks he finds to the living room.
Overcomes any obstacle in his way--including baby gates.
Greets us the moment we get home.
Such a playful and happy-go-lucky dog.

Turk:

Runs after anything you throw (and actually brings it back unlike his brother).
Under a blanket if you're wondering where he's hiding.
Loves to please.
Energetic and wonderful dog.

I went to buy Up! today (great movie, by the way), and the woman in front of me in the checkout line had a large microwavable popcorn bucket in her hand. When the cashier got to her, she held it up with a confused expression and asked, "Do these have to be heated?"

I thought the cashier was going to lose it right in front of her--all he could do was smile and nod. The woman didn't buy the popcorn and walked away like she was disappointed. The cashier waited until she was a polite distance away before he laughed, and I asked him how many times a day stuff like that happens. He just shook his head and sighed. I know I would've been too tempted to say "Nope, you just shake it really hard and it pops by friction. Here's your sign."

Great post. We should all remember the lesson that little ax-welding old ladies can move faster than curious people carrying trunks home (but only if there's a dead body inside.)

It's been awhile since I've watched the show, but I get this picture in my head of Starbuck shouting "Hey, I found the control-alt-delete buttons! The war's over!"

From a reality standpoint, I don't think we'll ever create a robot with the ability of sentient free will. Where I see things potentially going wrong is when we start trusting computers/robots in areas to eliminate human error--forgetting the fact that if we create the robot it has the potential to be flawed as well.

Hi! Great to learn more about you. :) I think you're very talented from what I've read of your fiction posts on Gather, so keep going with it. There are romance genre publishers you can try to query in Writer's Digest, or you can do like I've done and self-publish your own series. It's all a learning process and takes time, but if you're doing what you enjoy it's well worth it.

Thanks so much of your support of my posts. I really appreciate what a great and encouraging friend you've been on here.

Great review, Chas. They also did a lot of online story extras with District 9 that I think are cool. Two of the websites are D-9.com (a fake website for MNU) and MNUSpreadsLies.com (a blog by the alien Christopher Johnson). They add a lot of background after you've saw the movie.
