We all should continue to promote solutions to cleaner environment to create the critical mass that eventually make people to understand and take actions. As you mentioned, people should see that this is actually expands the economy and there are many business opportunities.

Scott, Biodiesel is not ethanol and while I think it is not the ultimate solution, it still should be part of the interim solution until the industry will be able to use much cleaner renewable sources like solar. It is not necessarily that biodiesel will be produced from corn, it can be produced from algae which has much more vegetable oil in it and grows much faster than corn.

Obviously, there are better solutions to produce energy than burning fossil fuel. As you mentioned, It is just a matter of commitment.

Sam, If I understand correctly, these buildings act like plants (not in the way of photosynthesis) but in the way that they "take" the CO2 from their surrounding. Right?

Every person that see the pictures of the glaciers few years ago and now, understand that global warming is here and now, not a future threat.

You pointed out other important implications like the fresh water shortage which many of those who talk against global warming choose to disregard it.

Though I don't think ethanol is a good solution, I do think that other biofuels (biodiesel for instance) should be part of the big picture solution of transition to renewable sources.

Chris - You put the message very clear. Well done.

Sources of biofuel should be regulated, there are now developments in growing algae which is better in the amount of oil in it per acre and in the shorter period to grow it.

My bottom line is that I agree that current deployment of biofuel production cause a real problem for humanity BUT the solution is in the deployment and not with all forms of biofuels.

Verie Sandborg, you raised good points that the solution should be a mix of renewable sources.

I think that biofuels should be only an interim solution until infrastructure is in place for cleaner and more efficient energy source.
I believe that eventually the majority of energy will be provided by the sun.

John, You mention the process in your article, so I just wanted to add another source for making biodiesel which elaborate a bit more for biodiesel.

I really think it is a matter of commitment. The commitment from governments to put pollution reduction with the highest priority will make the change. We saw many times that when there is a crisis and governments put all their efforts with regulations and other tools they have, the crisis is solved.

IMO the solution will be a mix of several renewable energy sources but the main source of energy will be solar based.

I agree that if each one of us will contribute his share of promoting and using renewable power then our planet will be much better place.

$5K per system is a bargain and will have great ROI ratio. I really hope that it will be sooner than later.
All the times there are developments (it just shows how much it was neglected until now) for example not long ago there was a research that found a way for batteries to hold 10 times longer than current one using nanotechnology, it is not yet commercial but soon it will be.
