Low-Oxygen Zones in Ocean. Oh my. by Chris W.

Chris, I have been studying this for sometime. There was an article years ago about this in Red Herring. Contrary to popular belief, fish do not use dissolved oxygen in water, they breath free oxygen in water and those responsible for the ocean food chain feed on plankton and other organisms near the surface. This free oxygen is produced by the algae. The algae which "blooms" refers to dead algae or "Red Tide" producing algae which causes ciguatera poisoning in fish and people. The algae dies from a lack of nutrients, changes in PH balance, ocean temperature and other factors. It is iron they most need and doses of iron cause them to green up in a hurry, infusing the surface layers with free oxygen for the fish. When you have a link to the article, I would be interested in reading it. Thank you for bringing the issue to the attention of others. It is critical, though, that people realize that algae also produces the vast majority of the earths oxygen so it is not just the fish in jeopardy. The iron seeding plan is definitely the way to go. Fish cannot separate the hydrogen bond in water with oxygen. They will "drown" without algae.

The paintings accompanying your article on Paris are great. I lived there for the better part of 10 years and I miss it. One of the best things to do in Paris is walk. Take your best walking shoes. The pick pockets can spot tourists easily. Learn to keep your goods in buttoned or very impossible to reach places. The words for unwanted types are "Laissez moi tranquil", pronounced "lessae mwah trankeel" or leave me alone. For metro tickets get a poche map pocket map on the ledge, ask for un carnet for 10 tickets or un billet for one (good for a one way trip). Don't forget to visit the Bois de Boulogne. It's a huge park with 2 large lakes for boating rentals and an island with peacocks, a little tower used by Napoleon and a racetrack. Shopping is best in the 16th, 17th and 6th arrondisements. Don't forget to visit the St. Augustine brasserie in the 8th. Tell them Robin sent you and ask for my table. Tip like you do in the states despite what they say. They live on tips there. If you see an old man dressed in rags near there, please give him 10F and tell him "La Petite Americaine donnez". Thanks

The ability to hide programs and more importantly program participants, subcontractors and their activities from scrutiny without a clear understanding of WHAT these programs are and why they are classified is at the heart of the problems. For far too long these programs have become a way to hide wrong activity and not important secrets. In fact the wrong activities are the secret. Let's get a handle on Rumsfeld initiated torture and what is happening in these facilities. It is just a short step from prisoners to population in an increasingly internet connected world. The precedents that are being put into place today will affect the future generations, particularly as the internet, television, radio and telephone systems integrate into HDTV systems and beyond into bio-optical systems involving our bodies and brains. Already, "brainhacking" has become an issue and has been proven to be point to multi-point. The real dangers are massively distributed mind control and remote torture. On the one hand, identity is an important safety feature for law enforcement, IF they enforced the laws against identity theft. On the other hand, no identity scheme is safe from hackers, who conduct identity theft campaigns. While trying to produce a National Identity Card or Passport, the lists and information is hacked into where they are producing them, at the Secretary of State's offices. Now "brainhacking" is here. I was hacked into by identity thieves using a combination of wireless and dial up. Now, I'm lucky if it's not frozen all the time and trickling in. Did you know it is possible for hackers to use part of the electrical wiring that powers your computer to access your files? When will computing be safe? Wireless, particularly high powered millimeter wave can be a health disaster, yet there are all sorts of ways of pushing an industry, ike slowing down dial-up and preventing open source. Where is the 1000 capacity fiber optic connection?
