It will never happen, in our lifetimes, that a candidate's skin color or gender are not mentioned. We do not live in a colorblind society, and we never will. Even if people are still mentioning differences in candidates that are irrelevant to the issues at hand, which they inevitably will, for as long as anyone reading this is alive, as long as these people are still talking, still being heard, and still participating actively in politics, change is occurring. People should be proud of the progress society has made, however limited. There's nothing wrong with being optimistic.

When the non-stick movement came about, I was ecstatic, because I had heard so many terrible things about the dangers of Pan-like spray. But yes, I believe the plastic does melt...although I'm no expert. I still use plastic, but not without hesitancy. But there are dangers everywhere...in the end you just have to choose your poison.

I like this story because it shows that just because you're doing one thing (you've directed yourself along a specific career path, for example) it doesn't mean you can't do another. As long as you're breathing, you are capable of changing your life for the better.
