"Since the signing of the Oslo Accord in 1993, the U.S. government has committed more than $1.3 billion in economic assistance to the West Bank and Gaza Strip.

Since the end of 2000, Arab states have transferred to the Palestinian Authority monthly financial aid of $45 million (since April 2002 this sum was increased to $55 million). The European Union (EU) transfers to the PA approximately $9 million monthly. By the end of 2001, the Palestinians had received $4 billion (the figure is now closer to $5.5 billion) since the 1993 Oslo agreements.

This is the equivalent of $1,330 per Palestinian. By comparison, the Marshall Plan to rebuild Europe after World War II provided $272 per European (in today's dollars)."

What I propose is we round up every member of "Our Congress" and send them off to live the rest of their days on a lovely island just south of Florida...we have a facility there, that many refer to as "GITMO" which would make a lovely home for ALL these crooks.

Then "WE" (as in "we the people") elect ALL new members of Congress with a clear message that the very first thing they ARE to do is pass legislation making lobbyists and lobbying a criminal offense punishable be no less than 25 years incarceration.

Next piece of legislation, make PAC's illegal as well as corporate campaign contributions.

That would be a start!!!

And now we learn that our fantastic Congress has just voted themselves a 5.8% budget increase...with Madam Pelosi needing a 4.1% increase for her office. Probably because she is soooo f@#%ing important to the American people!!!

GITMO is looking better and better for ALL of these hacks!!!


I think I'm going to vote myself a 5.8% budget increase - how about you???

If Glen Beck is hated now by the Republicans as much as he is hated by the Democrats - then maybe I should start listening to him!!!

Anyone who can gain such hatred from these two TOTALLY Corrupt political parties can't be half bad!!!

When does his show air on Fox? What radio stations carry his broadcast? Does he have a satellite radio channel?

The "green shoots" I seek is when the American people stand up for ourselves and vote these thieves out of office and elect representatives "of the people, for the people and by the people"!!!

Each day now, more and more cells are opening up at GITMO - I can't think of a better use of this facility than to fill it with ALL of these crooks - Democrats and Republicans alike...wouldn't they look lovely dressed in their orange jump suits?

"Baucus collected $90,000 from those connected to the insurance giant that has received more than $170 billion in federal bailout funds."

So CHICAGO came in last place in the Olympic pick, Unemployment hit 9.8% (highest rate in 26 years), Dow Jones closes down for the 7th time in the last 8 days - giving back approx 4.3%, factory orders declined 0.8% in August - analysts had been expecting a modest increase and health care reform has moved not one inch forward.

How exciting!!!

Does anyone actually believe that any form of health care reform will result in insurance companies losing profit $$$???

Remember that WE (the American taxpayer) bailed out AIG to the tune of $173 billion - that's $173,000,000,000.00!!! Now we're going to write legislation that will cut into this and other insurance companies profits - come on now - wake up America!!!

Health care reform could be handled so quickly and effectively if we did not allow Washington DC to become a vast pool of croaks and cheats. Get ALL of them out of office ASAP and we MIGHT be able to move this country forward.

I'm talking about both Republicans and Democrats - ALL croaks and thives and ALL of them should be thrown out of office and thrown into prison - perhaps GITMO would make a lovely new home for ALL of them!

I believe that a lot of this "reelection madness" stems from this false sense of party security...the thought that today these Democrats or Republicans actually represent the wishes and beliefs of the American people and act on our behalf.

If we (the American people) had the guts to vote every single incumbent out of office over the next 2-4-6 years - we could change the "status-quo" and begin to rebuild our nation for the better.

I fear that we as a people - do not have the backbone to do such...so we will only continue to propogate this insanity! We have to blame ourselves for allowing the current state of complaciancy and thus the ineptitude that we have allowed to overtake Washington.

How unfurtunate for ALL of us!

The only thing I would disagree with you on is your idea of keeping "Air Corruption" grounded on the tarmac...I would suggest that we allow it to take flight and then blow it (and ALL of our corrupt politicians) out of the air!!!

Why should anyone care what former President Jimmy Cater thinks or says...he was by far the worst president we have had in the last 60 years - and to think - I voted for him.

We are still trying to iron out the mess he caused in Aghfganistan, Pakistan and Iran.

President Obama is correct...people are passionate about their feelings on health care reform and I believe that as Americans, it is still legal for them to exercise their First Amendment rights without being labeled "racist" simpy because one's views differ from anothers.

Okay...I'll go ahead and stick my foot in it!!! I can't wait to see what type of responses I get from the likes of the "Site Psychic" and Clark Kent - but here goes...

Adolph Hitler, although a total nutcase when it came to his vision of a superior "Arien" race actually did several good things for the people of Germany and some things which the rest of the world uses today:
1) Under Hitler, the jet engine was invented
2) Methadone was also invented
3) Retread Tires
4) Stealth technology
5) The Kindergarten system
6) The autobahn
7) He standardized the rail car measurements still in use today throughout most of
the world
8) He also standardized the German train schedule system
9) He stabilized the German economy and eliminated Germany's foreign debt
10) He encouraged Dr. Porsche to create an affordable, reliable automobile known
as Volkswagen
11) Several fertility drugs still in use today were actually invented/developed in the
concentration camps - scary but true.

So when people like Limbaugh, Hannity, Soros, Moore and even Churchill compare others to Hitler - perhaps they should stop and consider some of the good things that came from his leadership. Does this excuse the atrocious things that he did and his quest for total domination of Europe - I think not, but we do need to give credit where credit is due.

What Limbaugh and others should also stop and ponder for a moment is this... If Obama had not won the Democratic nomination, we would most likely be watching Madam Hillary unleashing her bag-of-goodies on the American people and the rest of the world. Would Rush or Sean or others really want that instead?

We should ALL thank our lucky stars that Obama won and hope that Obama is hugely successful in at least his first term - because if he isn't, that could be Hillary's one last attempt to run rampant at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. As Jennifer K. stated above..."What kind of world would we leave to our children/grandchildren then???

Okay...let me have it!!!

It is proven fact that the planning of the 9/11 attacks were in the works for years leading up to 2001. This was an attack on western civilization - not on a particular administration or government but rather on a way of life. Remember that it was not just US citizens who lost their lives on 9/11.

I'm certainly not here to defend the republicans in any shape or form - but to set the record straight...the republicans controlled the congress for 6 years under the Clinton Administration but for only 2 years under the Bush "43" Adminstration.

Today, neither party has the gonades to "go-it-alone" because of fear of politiacal fall-out!!! They are so concerned about their respective parties that neither really cares to do what is best for the country - for that we ALL should be outraged!!!

The real problem that we face today is the fact that both parties are more concerned with their own prowess/their own self-preserverance then the good of the American people!!!

Yes, we need some drastic changes to our national health-care system, as well as medicare, social security, our national debt, etc. But instead of acting like mature, responsible, accountable elected "representatives", our corrupt politicians (both parties) continue to point fingers and lay blame on the other party.

It is like watching two kids who continually get caught stealing cookies from the cookie jar and all either one of them can do is point out that the other one got the bigger cookie, the cookie with more chocolate chips!!! How pathetic, that we have allowed our great country to fall so far. We need to vote ALL of them out of office and start fresh.

Remember what Lincoln said "A government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth." Unfortunately, today we do not have that form of governemnt and thus risk our own peril!!!

I write to my senators (Collins & Snowe) on a regular basis, have written to my US representative (Tom Allen) but have never received a reply in 20+ years.

The internet may be a "free zone" for crooks and thieves - but no more so then Washington DC and the US Congress.

My point is that with the advances in technologies - it would not be difficult for the US populace to cast votes on important national issues and have a legitimate say in how we want our country run - rather then allow a bunch of "crooks and thieves (US Congress) to line their deep, deep pockets at our expense.

Would there be problems with such an electronic system? No more so then with our current voting systems with "hanging chads, voter fraud, etc.

How would you suggest hard working, tax-paying US citizens voice their concerns - for or against healthcare reform?

Should we just sit back and allow the corrupt, self-centered thieves in Washington - aka elected offiicials decide what they percieve what is best for the populace?

With today's ability to collect data at lighting speed - why couldn't we establish a system in which the American people vote via computer (using social security numbers) on important legislative matters such as healthcare, social security/medicare reform, immigration reform, national debt reduction, etc. For those that do not have a computer, we could make the public libraries and town hall offices available.

I am in favor of some form of healthcare reform - but I do not want just anything forces down my throat. I want a well thought-out, cohesive and obtainable plan implemented ...and I am in favor of us taking our time and getting the best plan in place rather then rush in just to get something on the books - in the past when the US government has opted for the latter - the US taxpayer has always come out on the short end of the stick.

In my opinion, we cannot consider any healthcare reform package which does not include and address major tort reform - something that most of our corrupt politiicians don't want to consider...is that because most of them have made much of their $$$ chasing ambulances???

History will show that Bush 43's failure as president was his inability to restrain the expansion of the federal government and the spending that ensued.

History will clearly show that Carter is and has been the WORST president over the past 40-50 years. It is largely his policies that we are still facing with regards to Afgahnistan, Pakistan, Iran and Russia.

Steve B. - check your facts a little better...the Carter administration tried to influence Reagan's "pre-presidential" team to hold off negotiating the release of the Iranian hostages for 45 days after Reagan's inauguration. Reagan refused and negotiated their release on his frst day in office. This is part of the public record and is available in both the Carter and Reagan libraries!!!

I believe that 50 years from now the line-up will look like this: From worst to best...

Ford
Bush 43
Nixon
Clinton
Bush 41
Kennedy
Reagan

The jury is still out on Obama - intelligent, charismatic, good communicator but he has sold his soul to the corrupt Washington political insiders and that could ultimately be his undoing and that is unfortunate for ALL of us!!!
