I had a great Mothers Day...went away for the weekend with 4 other mothers who I've been friends with since high school. We stayed at the cabin at one of the moms, went white water rafting, shopping, and out dancing! Had an awesome time! Our second annual trip...we're doing it again next year :)

Like most of us are saying, the reason for so much media attention on Susan Boyle is because of her appearance, even thought her voice is beautiful.
I am also one of you that would wish that she wouldn't feel the need to change anything about herself, but know that this is probably unrealistic in this day and age.
One can only hope that she is not corrupted by fame and fortune, if this is the path that she seeks...

I'm a teacher, so I like to have some adult conversation with colleagues and friends in the teachers' cafeteria while I relax and eat the lunch that I brought from home.
We only have 35 minutes for lunch, so we make the most of it...no complaining about kids, just laughing, talking about our lives and what's happening in them...sharing any funny stories that come our way!

Austin, I believe that you made many valid points in your article...and unlike Andrea, I agree with your views that the "War on Terror" has not made us feel any safer overall. It also has been and continues to be a HUGE drain on our economy.
I know this may not be a popular view with some conservatives, but I feel financial resources are needed in OUR country at this point in time, not spent on defense or given to OTHER countries to rebuild their societies.
Not that I do not care about others...but let's take care of our own first.

I don't know what rude comments were posted before, but everyone here seems to be sending you a positive message and encouraging you to keep posting!
We can only learn through our mistakes...and hopefully people will be kinder in the future and give constructive criticism, not rude comments that will discourage you from posting!
Remember, English is one of the hardest written languages..many irregular rules...it's easy to make grammatical mistakes!
Most of all...NOBODY'S PERFECT! We should all remember that, and not sit in judgment of others!

Dan--I am so sorry for the loss of your grandmother, and for the pain and sadness that you are feeling. I know it's difficult now, but looking at the pictures of your beautiful grandmother and remembering the happy times and what she meant to you will help to ease the emptiness you are feeling inside.

I have taught my two girls which items should be placed in the trash and which in the recycling box since they were in preschool.
They also know to turn lights and electronic devices off when they leave a room, not to run the water when they brush their teeth, and to take as short a shower as possible (or mom will be knocking on the door telling them to wrap it up)!
They also have learned to clean out their closets (and when younger, toy boxes) periodically to donate items to charity.
They have also learned to enjoy shopping in thrift shops for "new" clothing.
I am proud of the changes we have made in our household to help the environment (and also to help out mom's budget)!
