With all the many quick fix, sound bite environments that are dominating our culture and landscape, there are less and less readers willing to take the time to enjoy a really great book. Social networks are mostly about hearing one’s voice heard, than of any lasting impact or substance. When people actually unite behind something meaningful and generate results, only then will social networking prove its full powers. For now, everyone is selling something and couldn’t care less to take the time to read any novel. They’re quite content letting the media, film and television, do it all for them – passive entertainment in a bubble. More sadly, and the bigger problem is that with the new digital technology, a lot of published tripe has only made it more difficult to find those diamonds in the rough that are actually worth reading. Finding and connecting with those people who still love to read books becomes the challenge.

After perhaps years of hard work, then going the independent publishing route, and actually producing their book, a writer will soon realize that marketing will become the final icing on the cake of their journey to success, and whether or not the results will sustain them as a writer.

Change being the essential process for all existence, it’s important to adjust quickly and find new and creative ways to get around all the red tape. Mostly, everyone should realize that if it were easy, everybody would be doing it.

Kent, by any other name, “Politically Correct” or not, no bad deed goes unpunished. We reap what we sew. I wonder how many virgin-coupons “Fireworks Sparkle” will get for that one.

Instead of giving importance to those moron/mentally deranged terrorists and other negative influences surrounding us, let’s give them a one-way ticket to nothingness and let them wallow in obscurity.

In its place, let’s focus on those many good people who make a superior and lasting contribution to the advancement of the human condition. Life is too short to mess with, or give too much importance to the small stuff. We’re just feeding their self-importance. Being a terrorist has become their claim to fame and we’re giving them what they would otherwise never have. We’re also giving them power when we are fearful. As Truman said, “All we have to fear is fear itself.” Let’s not fuel their frenzy.

Instead, we should positively motivate, educate, enlighten, and inspire with more positive celebration to the full potential of the human spirit for all things good.

Religion by itself can be vague and even misleading unless the facts and details are known. As an example: The Christian religion is specific.

Christianity: "For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all men."

Socialism is a backward solution for a people of limited thinking and abilities. That's where we continue to be headed. A free people choosing to be less than free, in exchange for a quick unproved solution? Guess again, there are NO free rides. Wake up! With everything that has been happening, we will all be taxed through our proverbial noses while our freedoms continue withering away.

For a very long time, many of our so called leaders (who were, and continue to be bought and paid for by special interests) turned an irresponsible blind eye to what has escalated into our current situation and serious challenges. The powers behind the current Health Care Bill are counting on us being in conflict with one another. They know that eventually they will get what THEY want because the people are NOT united without any real organization that can unite behind their best interests.

From an estimated over 12 million illegal’s and the poor putting a strain on the system - to escalating health care costs - to many others contributing to the problem, one thing is for sure, we need to find a solution. However, it’s in the language of any contract or Bill that needs the most scrutiny and attention to details. Any words that can be later interpreted beyond its original intent only play into the hands of those who have another agenda.

How many people will become the best doctors or nurses if they think a socialist like autocracy is going to determine their future. How many doctors do you think will leave the medical profession for a more free and lucrative life? It’s our freedoms that are the foundation of our greatness. Anything less will only exasperate one problem into another and another…

Does anyone really believe that our government should run any business? You can bet that a trillion dollars would end up many trillions more in no time at all. Their track record for handling money has proved to be not the most efficient. In fact, if they were a business they would have gone out of business a very long time ago. Unlike a real business the government can print more money and raise taxes to survive. Anything as important as health care should remain in trust of companies who understand and know it best, but with new provisos attached. They may not be as rich as they are now, but they will still exist.

To that end I have repeatedly offered this one possible solution which has all but been completely ignored:

1. Use the tax scale on all income to determine separately what each individual would pay for themselves and their dependents for health care. The poor would pay much less based on their ability to pay, and the rich would pay more. Employers would also contribute per employee. That money would be sent in with their tax return.

2. Employers will be required to withhold, contribute, report, and send to the government those health care dollars that would go into a special fund. No write-offs would be permitted for national health care insurance.

3. The fund would be immediately distributed to existing health care companies who would need to qualify under a strict policy.

4. A special congressional committee would be responsible to protect and serve the peoples best interests with the elected representatives answerable to their constituents.


In this way there is no socialism, our current system is not disrupted for yet another costly unknown, with a free people determining their own future. It all comes down to offering the best health care for everyone and that is the dollar and sense of it.

Our Democracy should never be compromised for anything less, and especially not from any false perceptions of the limited facts. We already have too much socialism in the guise of democracy. I would rather see more jobs created in the private sector for health care than feeding our already bloated bureaucracy.

The people need to get involved in their future. Don’t leave anything in the hands of the so called experts. Get involved while making a positive and meaningful difference.

Yes Sandy and Kent, and that's what Christmas/Christ Mass is all about. Because of his being we can be more than just ashes to ashes, dust to dust. To be a true Christian is to understand and be faithful to Him unconditionally, and that can only be for all things good.

Sandy, as usual you're fighting the good fight. Unfortunately, on such topics as abortion, nearsightedness cannot always be corrected with glasses. Tunnel vision and self-serving agendas make it difficult for some people to see the forest through the trees. They just can’t help themselves because everything revolves around their own narrow view of life.

Everyone’s gift of life began at conception and without that biological fact we would otherwise not be here today. Are we not glad that our parents considered us a blessed event? If an unborn child becomes so easy to erase, snuffed out as a perceived insidious inconvenience, what then is next on the pecking list. On the other side of the spectrum, the handwriting is on the wall for senior citizens be considered a burden; outliving their usefulness, and are now a strain on the young(er) who will be paying more in social security, health care, etc., to support our elder’s free, independent, lifestyles in retirement? How long do you think it will take for them to be eliminated as something that has outlived their usefulness? Without the infirm; those with a physical handicap(s), and others who cannot hold down a job, we would all have more money in our pockets.

But fear not, with our weapons of mass destruction, humankind can now kill every perceived biological infestation on the planet. Ultimately, we reap what we sow.

How easy it becomes for some people to appoint themselves judge and jury justifying just about anything while twisting and distorting the truth to fit within their lack of values.

The arguments from proponents of abortion just don’t hold water. They present a subjective, unenlightened, self-serving, and narrow understanding about the gift of life. They do this because they can. Why? Since THEY weren’t aborted THEY now have the power to place themselves above God (Choice), life and death (choice), right and wrong (choice) as long as it fits into their own subjective agenda. It becomes so easy for some people to do as they please to others who can NOT speak for themselves. It happens every day in life where one person forces their will on another. And for those who are NOT yet able to survive and speak on their own, abortion becomes an insidious and malicious evil act against those potential human beings who are unable to defend themselves or even have the ability to say anything about it.

Doing onto others as we would have them do onto us has little meaning when there are no perceived or apparent repercussions to the person who supports assassination (abortion) in manipulation of unjust laws that legally validate their actions. Forgive them - for in their blind and selfish existence they know NOT what they are saying or doing.

History will prove that 50,000,000 aborted lives, and counting, will have been the most egregious, uncivilized, cozen, barbaric malfeasance of our time. All life begins its journey at conception; otherwise some would not be here to play God, deciding who should survive and who should not.

Thank God that there are people like Sandy, Kent, Teresa, and others who defend and stand up for those who are unable to defend their right to life; a right we all too often take so much for granted.

It all comes down to some people playing God in deciding who will live and who will die based on their narrow self-serving excuses. We must all speak for those who cannot speak for themselves. I wonder what the living will say when someone else decides that they are expendable and no one will listen to their cry's of desperation.

Carl, there are some good suggestions above. Just get yourself out there wherever you can. Getting people to see the value of what you have to offer, and then buy, will become the greatest challenge of your journey.

Well Kent, to answer your question:

Athletes and other celebrities:

People hold their athletes such as Tiger Woods; and many other celebrities to such high standards because they only see the results and not the means and hard work necessary to get them there. These singled-out talents have abilities and a little luck beyond most ordinary people and have become the best of the best. Also, most average people don't realize that if it were easy everybody would be doing it. So, instead they keep the fantasy alive with a lot of help from big money who want to keep it that way for obvious reasons. That special talent becomes their investment and their followers their cash-flow. Keeping the dream alive has become big money.

Senators and other politicians:

By our vote we hire our Senators and other elected officials to do the will of the people. We give them power and prestige. If they stumble, and enough of the electorate is dissatisfied with their performance, they can be simply voted out of office.

What should be most curious to everyone is the additional profit gained by making any celebrity’s private life public. Controversy sells. The people who dig up dirt on other people must be living their life better than anyone else because as Jesus Christ said, “He who is without sin cast the first stone.” Somebody should dig up some dirt on them – it’s only fair.

For a majority of fans, athletes and other celebrities become their fantasy alter-egos of desire, with an established standard of excellence. They can become disappointed if their idols fall short of the illusionary yet engineered image projected. When the fan moves on the idol moves on to the has-been room.

Elected officials are our gullibility incarnate. Few are surprised if they lie and cheat. The squeaky wheel gets the most grease, while saying what everyone wants to hear, and then usually getting elected. When elected politicians move on, they get a lifetime pension from the taxpayers while using special interests to further their bloated future ambitions.

One is a fantasy alter-ego of desire to aspire to – the other is reality.
