Jay, My grand-kids LOVE your book! The oldest Gracie's has learned to read and she reads it to her two siblings enough to where when she's at school, they can turn the pages and tell the story like they are reading it. They sound adorable doing so!

You're right, this poem could fit several important relationships...just like real love can...
I thought at one point you may have been about a daughter beside her mother after a conflict...could fit any age, especially a teen.

Robert...a simple Man? I think not!
How moving are these last thoughts of a dying man, motivated by true love not only for his sweetheart but all creation he thought to mention.
How sacred is this final feat of a man who would struggle with all he had left, to share with his precious soul mate about his Love for her, admiration for his fellowman, earthly creatures, celestial lights right down to the earth he was stretched out on.
His life and all he stood for is resurrected and summed up here in his final written words to her. What a blessed woman!
How clever were your ideas here as described the mental anguish with physical terms.
For example; His legs are not shackled but still a prisoner no doubt to the loyalty of being a shoulder, his loyalty too future generations of more like him...who will live and die for their freedom and that of others. Though all may not fully understand why, through such writing as you have done here Robert, hopefully they will get a better idea.
Keep up the awesome work!

Dena, has a good idea there...I taught my three year old niece, Jordan all those "Boney Terms" when she was only three. We made up this fun learning game. We simply clapped our hands to keep in time. (Rhythm helps to learn) Saying between calls...
"Bones, bones, we love our bones that all connect together...(stop clapping while you slowly say) ...My Knee is called Patella"
Go through three or four a day while pointing to the bone and saying the familiar names, then follow with the technical terms. After several rounds, the kids get it then you can point to the bone and say the familiar name while you let them say the new name for it.
Each day add a new one. It's really fun for them when they remember to get it right. So don't for get to clap and cheer when they do.
People would hear Jordan do this by herself thinking she was so intelligent...she is!

Be creative! Maybe work in a "lovable" side kick. Come up with an imaginary friend to help you. Or bring along a cute stuffed animal with a name the kids will remember...only you can hear him/her speak. (He/she whispers in your ear) He/she can make song request
...tell you his troubles of the day etc...the kids will love it and it takes some of the pressure off of you when you hit a blank wall ( this would be a good time for him/her to be telling you a secret while you try to remember or come up with something new.

Once you get their attention with the first song, have a sing along. Make up a silly song of rhyming that gets them involved..they like that too.
Just play a tune with three or four cords, you make up the first line or two and show them how it's done.
Example: I like sunshine... makes me feel good all the time
I like potatoe chips....fun to dunk them in the dip
I like my mom and dad...and little sisters' not so bad
I like to read my book...("your turn! sing a line that rymes with book")
and so on...
Most of the time it will turn out silly, so don't forget to laugh and have fun. It's easy to get volenteers; most kids like the attention this will bring.
Sounds like you have the personality to pull this off easy enough.

A great guitar tune that will get kids to listen to you...Puff the magic dragon works every time for me. They don't really know what it's about but the song has some key words that holds their attention.

I agree with George here. (which by the way it was through his comment that I found this article.) Most of the time I feel like a little fish in a big ocean...lost at sea mind you. This info will be something I need to keep handy. Thanks for posting it for us.

Oh My Goodness! This is awesome writing! These heartfelt words are perfectly placed in rhythmic form as wisdom and the romantic fool dance on the page. No one can deny having an ability to understand that feeling. If not, they clearly have never lived.
