I was just looking on the internet for info about breathing and scoliosis and found your post so I joined gather just to respond. I have s curve scoliosis which has caused me pain since early on in life. About 10 years ago, I am now 32. I found Iyengar Yoga ( a yoga which focuses on alignment) and within a short period of time I was finally relieved of pain. Since my introduction to this practice I have now become a teacher and practice regularly. Just recently I came across some information about the decreased lung function in scoliosis and it makes alot of sense. I think sometimes people with this issue don't realize that they have a decreased lung capacity because we don't know anything different untill it gets worse. With this information I made my new years resolution to breathe better. I highly reccomend seeking out an Iyengar yoga teacher in your area. I know in some places their are even teachers who specialize in scoliosis and their is lots of info on the internet just google scoliosis and Iyengar yoga. There are also classes that just do resting poses called restorative which would be a great start. I don't know where I would be without this form of yoga. Well my heart goes out to you and I wish you healing breathing. Remember everyday is an opportunity to heal.
