Thanks for your comment, Shelbia. I hope you find the time to get it and read it. The reviews have been good, but more important than that, I'm personally pleased with the way the story turned out and one of my all time favortie characters I've developed is in this book, that being Molana "Lana," also affectionatly known as Big Mamoo. --Best, ES

Pat: This is a novel both men and women can enjoy. I did my best to deal with emotional issues on both sides of the coin...even the edge of the coin (the renegade alien, Flit's, point of view). Hope you will buy it for your husband and then give it a try, yourself. --ES

Jan: As I said to Nancy, this is a very character-driven story. Not your typical sci-fi monsters, etc. There are real issues and human emotions dealt with here. Hope you'll give it a try. --ES

GG: Pretty much. And as the story impies, hunting, cutting down trees, over-farming the land, etc, many times leads to disaster and even species extinction. Hope you will read the book and see where I'm coming from. --ES

Hope you will make the effort to get the book and read it. If you do, please let me know what you think. It was a 10-year labor of love to get it finished and published. I hope the continuation novel doesn't take as long, but you never know.... These babies are ready when they're ready.

What I was shooting for in this book, and I think I accomplished, was how the average people of the world, even though they are from diverse cultures, interact with each other during a crises and try to work together to find their way through it all. In this book, the weak one becomes strong and the strong one becomes weak. And then there is one of my favorite characters ever...Big Mamoo!

Thanks for commenting on this review. Even though there are aliens, this, this book is not your standard sci/fi fare. It's character driven and revolves around the relationship of several main charcters during frightening times. The ending is not a catch-all "we beat the aliens." In fact, the future looks bleak, but there is a ray of hope, which the readers will hopefully grab onto and read the sequel, which takes place 1,000 years in the future.

It boils down to this. Any story in any genre only survives on the strength of the characters and their interaction with each other. A bonus for the reader is when the writer invokes debate controversy through his/her characters' actions.

I like your review. I reviewed this book several months ago and, as you did, found it to be an interesting and entertaining read. The author, Violette Reid, also has a book of her poetry available if I remember correctly. I also, recommend this book and this author.

Looks like a good read. Suggestion. Have someone else do the line edit for you. I find if I do it myself, I catch a fair amount of stuff, but another set of eyes catches all the things my "eye" read the way I thought it should be, not the way it really was.
