It's hard to say from a photograph. The metal looks gold and the stone on the fourth picture from the left looks like an opal. I would get a jeweller to look at them.

May the 2nd is not that long to go. You are on the right track - continue to try to fix your wife's credit by paying down debt, making sure all bills are paid on time and so on. have you considered trying a credit union instead of a bank? Good luck!

That's dreadful. I've stopped using ATMs. Here in the UK, supermarkets let you make cash withdrawals at the till as long as you buy something. It's much safer as it all goes through the supermarket's own systems.

The expectations on Obama are indeed almost more than any one man can bear. But many people grow in stature when facing tough challenges. Let's hope he's one of them.

The American people can at least console themselves that they've done their part (campaigned, and then went out in huge numbers to vote and change things and try to put someone in office that seemed up to the task). Can't ask more of citizens really. It's now out of their hands (for four years at least).

It's an event that happened before many of us were born.

But it's worth noting that John F Kennedy is affecting the modern world - in 1959, President Obama's father got a place at an American university, but couldn't afford the airfare over. Concerned activists approached the then Senator John F Kennedy to ask for a grant from the Kennedy foundation, and he gave $100000 (a small fortune then). I think John Kennedy thought he was helping Africa. In reality he was helping America, as if Obama's dad hadn't come to America, he wouldn't have met his mom, and he wouldn't have been born.

Just goes to prove that completely random acts of kindness come back towards you ten-fold, and can change history.

You are being patronising to women here by assuming the vote was about appearance. It was more likely to do with foreign policy. Women don't like war-mongering (for the simple reason that they struggle to give birth and blanch every time someone's precious baby gets killed). I think McCain put them off with his talk of 100 years war.

Perhaps this is down to the poor education they dole out in Alaska?

I know this is weird, but I'm starting to feel sorry for her. She simply wasn't up to being VP and shouldn't have been selected. It's like some low IQ person being put on display for public amusement. They shouldn't have done it to her. She was probably quite happy with her life in Alaska.

Glad you were able to vote quickly. Maybe with the extra people at the voting station, everyone will be able to vote without trouble and a record will be set. Maybe even rival the French turnout of 85% earlier this year!

Most people are instinctively heterosexual or gay - they don't have to think about it. The only ones who have to "think" are those who have instincts one way and then deliberately choose the other. So Sarah palin's admission is, um, interesting to say the least!

It's a big mystery how to earn points! I would say, just post something everyday, spotlight it, and then spend some time commenting on other people's posts. It's quite a varied site, so plenty of interesting topics (though I don't know what people will talk about after the election!)
