I have a suggestion for MAC users who want to copy and use images in their articles - but the same warning for copyright violations applies here.
Here is how to copy an image from your computer screen on a MAC:
Macs have a function for capturing images directly from the screen. You can capture any image, photo, or graphic from anywhere, even PDF files.
The keystroke is three keys...
(Apple - Comand) key -- Shift key -- 4 key, all held down at the same time.
The curser on your screen will change to a (+) shape on the screen.
Hold down your right click button on your mouse, positioning it first at one corner of the image, and drag the crop box to cover the desired area of the image. Then let go!
An icon will appear on your desktop as... "Picture 1.png."
You can rename the png file, as a jpg file. Then you can upload the image to Gather.com.
Macs are best for graphics, and are virtually virus proof. A good reason to own one!
The question you raised for adding images to articles is a good one, and for adding links to other Gather articles from the photo images. You can add a link to a photo in your article by clicking the image after you have dragged it into your article editor, then click the (Link Icon) on the toolbar, and insert the url address in the text box for the article you are linking to.
