I seem to do things in cycles on the net. Three years ago I was spending 80% of my time on IRC and 20% here on Gather. Now I'm spending 80% of my online time on Facebook and 20% on Gather. Where will I be in another three years? Probably somewhere I've not even heard about yet.

Sue, an "article" here a couple of days ago has had me gathering my thoughts about this site, too, and I have to say, you covered everything. I've been around for better than three years, too. I've read some amazing things here, made some friends that are truly friends, experienced some changes for the better and some for the worse. This latest debacle involving Writing Essentials is just stunning. Not only did The Powers That Be not censure the member that caused total havoc on the site, but rewarded that person with a position as an editor. Finally, I "get it." It's the ultimate dumbing-down of Gather. Now I'll be very surprised if the site owner answers the question asked of him in the dialogue he opened. You know where you can find me.

In the spirit of it all, we should post those photos that languish on our hard drives, never seen, just because they're too dark, out of focus or overexposed. After all, we took them with joy, did we not? Why fuss about things like lighting, composition and editing of photos when it doesn't matter with writing anymore.
