Janna - I'm not sure I would agree with your point on Adsense paying very well. It depends on the niche your website is. Some niches only pay pennies on Adsense where others can pay dollars per click.

Also you need to measure what your lost sales would be by placing Adsense on your site. You need to split test to measure if your income goes up or down by adding Adsense to your website.

That being said for me Adsense contributes about 10% of my revenue so I am happy with it but always testing to see if I can improve my revenues.

Lakiesha - that is a difficult question to answer because it determines on the effort that people put into it. On average the commission is around $23.50 for every sale. The more effort and traffic their ads get the more sales.

Great article and I agree with you that it compliments my article "What is Affiliate Marketing?"

The internet has exploded the opportunities of affiliate marketing. As you mention above all you need is a special link from the parent company and presto you are ready to start making money by promoting your link.

Amazon rose to the heights it is today with the help of affiliates and many of those affiliates are rich today because of Amazon. Affiliate marketing is a win-win situation. The parent company gets free advertising and support from it's affiliates and only has to pay out when a sale is made. The affiliate is able to sell and promote high quality products and services without ever having to handle, create, or ship the product.

I love being an affiliate and so does my bank account :)

Note that since I published this article eBay has changed its policy to no longer allow the sale of digital products such as ebooks. All items sold must be a physical product. At first this makes it seem like this tip is no longer useful, however there are companies that you can have the ebook burned onto a CD and mailed to the buyer for around $1.50. So this tip can still be done but it will take a bit more work. It is still a powerful way to make money with eBay.

Jenny - MySpace and Facebook have become massive sites - even bigger than Google. When you make connections with people on these sites you will develop a relationship with them. As that relationship grows you will be able to recommend products to people that will solve some of their problems. There is a right way and a wrong way to do this on these sites. If you do it the right way you can see a lot of success.

You should also do a search for article directories that are specific to the niche you are promoting in.

Note for the best success make sure to submit an original article to each site. And if you set a goal of one article a week you will start to see results and it will snowball. The better the information in your article the better the results will be.

I agree to be an affiliate or join an affiliate program one should never be required to pay. The programs/products on my site are products or programs that I am an affiliate for.

Two more reasons why you want to blog

1 - It helps establish yourself as an expert on the chosen topic of your blog. As your blog becomes more popular you will become the place to go for information on your topic - you become the authority.

2 - It allows you to have an open dialogue with your readers through the comments field. This is far better than one way communication because it allows you to see what your readers want to know and think about.

Great article and advice. Affiliate marketing can be very lucrative when done right. I earn a full time living being an affiliate, it is a great way to make money. And with the power of the internet gone are the days where we have to sell to our friends and family.

Good points Barry. When you start with online surveys don't expect too much or you will be dissapointed. However as you complete more surveys and the research companies learn more about you they will start to invite you to complete higher paying surveys as well as to join focus groups. These focus groups generally pay $75 - $150/hour.

As for the junk email - it is always a good idea to set up a new email address when you start online surveys where you can direct all your surveys to that email address. This way you can keep your personal and survey emails seperate. Just make sure to check your survey email often and at regular intervals so you don't miss any surveys.
