I find the discussion can come up more than once. The first time it's, 'are we ready?' The next time it's, 'are we ready to do this again?' Each time you make that decision it alters your path. It's helpful to check in once in a while to make sure you're both still traveling in the same direction!

I agree that even when you think you're ready so many things happen that you just never see coming. It's not that it's bad...it's just outside of the realm of your imagination at the time. I think another good way to plan for having kids is to spend some time with teens. You're sure to be dealing with your teens longer than you will your infants. Infants don't talk back! ;o)

Thanks again all. The comments are great and very insightful. I know it's a struggle to have to deal with family connection issues when there are so many other every day issues that require our energy. Sometimes it seems like it would just be easier to give up, but as they say...you can't pick your family...at least most of them you can't, so it's best to try and work it out. :o)

Wow...for this particular case maybe it's time to start shopping. With options like accident forgiveness, you might do well to look around. As for the scam thing, that's a pretty broad statement. Unless you have the financial strength to pay for all the potential loss you might face out of pocket...I would think twice before trying to go without it. :o)

Good solutions! It's great that couples can work to solve this problem, although I know for some it's a constant problem. Keep talking and keep trying new things until something sticks! The credit card companies don't help. There seems to be one or two new offers for some card or other almost everyday!
