Hilarious, Ed; absolutely hilarious!!!!!!!! It is rare to read really good fiction these days. Your book, if this is any indication, would be a hoot to read. I will have to add it to my list of books to buy once my finances complete their turnaround. So rare to get a 17-year-old voice just right. Bravo! Can't wait to read it!

Hello all!!!!!! Dr. Ni FINALLY checking in here. I have been diligently saving all of my gather mail to my gather folder, but I am actually afraid to see how many messages are lurking in there. As someone who gets upwards of 20-30 non-spam emails a day, it has gotten tougher and tougher for me to keep up.

NEVERTHELESS! I want to first thank Aaron for being the best fun I've had with an interviewee in a very long time and I actually LIKE interviewing. But talking with you, Mr. Lazar, was just pure fun.

To those of you here with books, if you think I might be interested, send me a sample chapter or two--but please no more than two (drni@blowingupbarriers.com). If I like what I read, I'll email you and ask for the entire book. I don't schedule ANYONE until I've read their entire book. Saves all kinds of trouble later.

Fiction, memoir, prose, poetry only please; no straight non-fiction. I am essentially a girl who loves a good story, so stories please, no straight didacticism. I was an academic for far too long ...... :-)

For those of you a bit afeared about radio interviews, Aaron gave some excellent advice in his article, and I would love to be your first experience should your book past muster. I work really hard at making my guests COMFORTABLE and I have a 100% pleasure rate from my interviewees. No kidding.

At first I thought the rhythm was slightly off, but then I stopped and really read it and was swept away by the power of the images and symbols. A bit rough and raw, but distinctly powerful says the former lit professor.

I have a Ph.D. in literature, have written nine books, and am known as a tough lit professor. And I LOVE your poem; it is graceful, succinct, the best in modern poetry because it communicates volumes in as few well-chosen words as possible. Brilliant!

I grew up a little Black girl in South Central Los Angeles and yes, I had some of those dreams of long hair. Never had long hair though til I stopped perming it and went to locs.

My hair started dancing in delight!

At 46 for the first time in my life my hair is advancing down my back. My roommate/LoveMuffin has a great time marking on my back how long my locs have gotten each day. He is like a kid about it. :-)

Natural hair is the way to go if you want it long, my (African American) sisters!!!!!!

I just had the first photo taken with my long locs. Soon as I get it from my new boss (for whom I am writing scripts), I will post it.

I wrote an essay--two essays actually--in which I discuss how we no longer grieve properly due to the absence of grieving on popular crime shows and the ways in which cinematic characters consume our imaginative and emotional lives to the detriment of our real brick and mortar relationships.

When the book of essays comes out, perhaps I should post here?
