I agree with you. I think she was truly one of the most beautiful actresses of that era! And a tremendous talent as well.

I also just realized that today, the access to plastic surgery is so much more today than back then as well. I've been surprised at the famous people who have gone under the knife or needle in the last twenty five years! I've read that even Sting and Alicia Keyes had noses tweaked! Not to mention boob jobs, tummy, butt, thigh, calf, and chest (for men) tucks and tights that are routine today for everyone! There are even billboards up on my freeways advertising every type of imaginable plastic surgery including the 'personal' areas!! Talk about self-indugent and age phobic! Some of them barely look human anymore! I feel like I am part of the last generation who is happy to be an adult. I know it sounds insane, but I like being 52!

For me, it's not that they weren't beautiful so much as cookie cutter looks (although today it's difficult to tell Charlize Theron from Scarlett Johannsen at times!) but that they looked SO OLD!!! The actresses who were supposed to be playing young ingenues looked OVER 30 at the very least! I find the same thing in the men of those movie days as well. They all look over 40 to me! And THAT was without hi def filmmaking too! I attribute some of it to the make-up at that time for both sexes. The pencil thin eyebrows and thick heavy false eyelashes on the women, (notably the famous shot of Marlene Dietrich-sp-?) and the heavy heavy pancake make-up on their skin. If you look at Doris Day in those days without make-up to hide her freckles, she was the young, All-American blonde girl.  Even she looked 30+.  Was it that life was harder, more realistic and less self-indulgent than today? Or is it that people, facially, have evolved that much in the last 50+ years? If you look at the paintings from the Renaissance or the photos from just before the turn of the 19th century, people facially looked much different than, again, say Jennifer Aniston of today. Even Angelina Jolie, in that last movie about her missing son--forget the title--came fairly close to the "look" of that time, still had a bit of modern facial features.  In any case, it's always been more about the CLOTHES than the actresses/actors for me. I'd kill to have some of those dresses, gowns, business suits and shoes today! IMHO, the designers back then KNEW how to dress women!

Wow, Kim, when I looked at your list of daily conservation priorities, I find that I have been doing almost all of them! I also live on a large property (I stopped by your website, IResolveTo.com-very nice I might add) and we started planting trees seriously back in 1990! I love doing things that not only save energy and money but truly do things that will help the Earth heal. Unfortunately, I live in a neighborhood that does not respect nature at all and I have no idea how to make my neighbors understand the need to help out our planet. I think I'll resolve to think of ways to let them know HOW to conserve and preserve! Hey, I've got it! We have a small community newspaper and being an ex-newspaper journalist, I can submit articles to them on this very subject! WooHoo! I love this group!

A rocky, angry, hot hot hot beginning to summer here in SoCali. It's been triple digits for the last three days and even air conditioning doesn't help. We've had to start making trips to the stores after dark due to the heat. I've grown up in the low desert but as I get older, I'm beginning to like this extreme heat less and less. Not that I want snow, but I'd love some moderate to cool temperatures!

I used to work in radio as an announcer and I've made inadvertent mistakes like that so I know how bad air talent feels when they make an error like that! My personal peeve is air talent that has absolutely NO grasp of the English language. In particular, when they say "I had went" and no program director corrects them! That's cool that they have live local talent on air--my sister and I are thinking of moving to Sedona. What are the call letters and frequency (numbers read= 104.7, etc.)? Oh, by the way, does Sedona have any local television station?

Of course, especially if I was responsible for someone else's survival. Also, just because a law or concept that stealing is wrong exists does not mean that it is right or correct and cannot and should not be bent. If we all stuck to laws without exception, Fascism would rule the world. An example would be the people that Amnesty International is attempting to get released. In whatever country political or other prisoners are held, being a political personality IS against the LAW. That doesn't mean the law is right or just. It's all a matter of relativity. Also, like other posters here, I also pray to God I and everyone else never has to experience this situation!

I must admit, I had my misgivings because of the many one-liners. I don't like most chick-lit because of that, where they try too hard to be smart-ass and funny. I did love the idea, originality, and execution of the story however, and secretly wished you'd place in the finals, just because IOHH was such an original idea and your main character's logical reasoning about her ending up under the sea I loved as well. Plus your wonderfully cute and musically appropo video trailer sucked me in right away! Congratulations!

Very very good, Dale. Very polished and well-written. I personally think more men should write romance, I'd love to read first person POV. Aside from a word change or two, this is pretty much ready for publication. I normally am not a romance reader and while several posts concern deepening the characters and their responses, etc., from what I have read of romance, this is great and the idea is romance not deep psychological exegesis. Congratulations on a job very well done!
