The problem with all this is a repitition of history. Doesn't anyone remember Nixon, and his unwillingness to leave Vietnam without the honor he thought we deserved? Just crazy.

However, what's worse, is that it lends the idea that we can do this sort of irresponsible behavior every ten years or so, and patch up the bloodworks with a succeeding administration.

I'm afraid President Obama has become distracted, and is falling for the Neocons old line, of letting them off the hook for their criminal negligence. Once upon a time, he - and we - had the opportunity to treat Bush & Co. with the contempt, and the criminal charges they deserved.

Yet, as time goes by, they'll hunker down in their hidey holes, bask in the warmth of getting away with it, and promptly forget that they were caught with dirty hands, fingers in the till and pants down.

I'm sorry Sean, your article is well written, but you have overlooked a fourth alternative. Legalizing narcotics, draining the funds of the warlords, stealing away the buying power of the Taliban, making them absolutely furious at Al-Queda for doing it, and then waving them all a fond farewell. That, too, could be construed as guerrilla warfare. Successful guerrilla warfare.

We will always have differing viewpoints, but let us not forget, that in one way or another, many work to advance ourselves. Only Republicans do it by riding on the backs of the poor, and Democrats do it by turning the poor into donkeys.

Then, when the donkeys drop from exhaustion trying to keep up with the elephants, the elephants reverse and trample donkeys.

It's all very easy to understand ... which is why smart people are usually confused.

Disturbing and insightful. If this article is completely true, and some of the material is questionable - especially concerning the influence of the Madrassas - then it should be more than alarming to the Barack Administration, as they're weighing each word offered them by a military who is constantly overlooking historical points of fact.

Yet, taking it out of context ... isn't it a kick that the ones most responsible for it all are no longer in office to blame?

This is the major difficulty with having the power to overturn the anti-trust laws. Mix that in with a bunch of easily swayed, uneducated red necks, and you have a disaster that lasts for decades.
