Thank you for the welcome back! Still writing my page a day. It has absolutely nothing to do with my work in progress, but it is writing. And it is the one resolution I am sticking to. Odd though, since I started doing the page a day, I haven't written a single blog. Haven't done any promotion, either, but what I have been doing hasn't been that effective anyway. So, I'm hoping that with a different mindset, perhaps eventually it will all fall into place. It could happen.

I've been trolling the internet, looking to see what I missed, and basically everything seemed the same until I came here. I must have missed four threads! How is that possible? Maybe I was offline longer than I thought I was. So, "congratulations" to those who deserve congratulations, and "I'm sorry" to those who didn't deserve what they got.

Apparently my addiction to the internet evaporated -- I actually forgot to log on a couple of days running. Instead of resolving to spend less time online in the coming year, I might have to resolve to spend more time!

Neither me nor my characters make New Years resolutions, though. It's more of a daily resolving. Every day I resolve to exercise, take my vitamins, write, eat a couple of meals, along with a host of other resolutions. If I succeed on at least half of them, I figure I'm doing well. My characters have other resolutions, but they basically do the same things I do.

A lot of words! Do you write by hand? Makes sense if you write on trains and planes and other moving vehicles.

Thanks for stopping by Angela. Next Thursday is Christmas Eve, and the following Thursday is New Years Eve, so we'll see you on January 7th. I hope.

Sounds interesting. I generally don't like sequels or series because the characters are limited by the previous book(s), but when the focus changes, it gives more scope for character development.

I suppose another way is to call resolutions something other than resolutions, such as blueprints or schedules.

The only book where transportation really made a difference was A Spark of Heavenly Fire. Every character had a vehicle-related story, from an almost blind guy who started to drive despite the troops patrolling the streets, to the journalist who bicycled to get his stories, to the various vehicles that were used to get an escaping couple to the border.

In my WIP, there are no vehicles left in the world. I deleted them all. Every single one.

I know exactly what you mean. Happens to me all the time. And now with this ability to reply to comments, you can't delete the original comment and replace it, because it ends up in the wrong place.

Is there any way you can combine the characters into one? I've done that before. It gets a bit tricky, but it's fun.

The problem is, these scenes were applicable. They just unbalanced the beginning of the novel. Too much about a secondary hero, not enough about the main one.

With all the changes Gather makes, I wish they'd get around to adding an edit button on the comments. I sure could use one tonight!
