Spencer...thank you so much for distributing the news and your article for I've been so busy, I was not uptodate on anything!

Aside from the issues of racism raised and which you and others have eloquently covered, my first impression of the newspaper article was: How biased!

Other than referring to Gates as a renowned Black scholar, nothing more is said about the man! What about HIS reputation, his contributions to the community, etc. etc. etc.

Additionally, what about the so-called person who called in? When are we going to force people to be IDENTIFIED and stand behind what they say in the newspaper, in police reports and anywhere else? I have to say, although I'm not a betting woman, that the caller was NOT Black!

How long are we going to allow biased reporting that slants such stories in praise of one person over another, regardless of race. But let's face it, if it had been two white individuals, it would not have happened...right?

And why do we allow so many individuals to speak out in outrage, yet refuse to let our President do so, without obviously being attacked and told to be more "politically correct"?

If we would start to really treat people equally, none of these situations would ever occur! How do I know? Because my Black friend, Spencer, is one of the kindest, most conscientous men I know...how many of his stories have talked about his taking care of or worrying about other people in his community...etc.

Now I'm not saying that to give Spence a big head...I'm merely using him as a simple example of common courtesy and decency...he treats people as he would like to be treated and he, indeed, follows that Golden Rule that all of us talk about, but many do NOT follow. Yet, he, too, has had to face these types of unprovoked situations. If it happens to Spencer, then I believe it is a stigma that many white people continue to uphold!

I'd like to know the name of the lady who called and claimed that a burglary might be happening...

I'd like to have her face the people she has angered, frustrated, and endangered because of her stupid, careless, racial bias...and see if she could endure the pressure that so many Black people must face each day...

I'd like to have the newspaper writers stand and explain to all those angered, frustrated, and endangered why he feels his biased reporting did any good for America...

Perhaps, someday...but probably not in my lifetime...I've become too much of a pessimist because of these continued types of actions!

God help us because we sure aren't helping each other!
