We had a white Husky missing 7 years ago and sent out flyers and put up posters, ran ads, offering a large reward but no one ever called. I think some people just decide to keep the animal for their own and not care that someone is missing it. I would hate to lose another one of my babies, but I know we couldn't afford much of a reward right now, but at least $200 would be offered. I think any decent person would return the animal for nothing though.

He did agree, and did complete the course. The President of PETA also told Vick that her position that he does jail time and has a lifetime ban of contact with animals wouldn't change just because he takes the empathy course. He said he understood. As far as the other players, I agree about not understanding how they figure into it. It's like punishing all of them without justification. There are plenty of people in the NFL who treat animals with the love and respect they deserve. There are plenty of people outside the NFL who abuse animals. So yeah, doesn't make much sense.

I don't need verification. All I have to do is walk outside my door and go to the local clinic, grocery store or school to get all the proof I need as to what's going on in regards to illegals. All I need for verification as to how others feel is to go on the internet and read comments that people are leaving on any subject to do with illegals and amnesty. I don't see why FAIR should have to prove anything. God knows the illegals aren't being made to prove much. Thanks for the article though.

Well yes it's sad what Vick and his friends and business partners did, but what do you think of him taking an empathy course through PETA? What do you think of PETA suggesting that all NFL players take the empathy course?

Tom, it's very hard to find any business that hires only legal people. I know how you feel though. And it's not just the fault of the business. The authorities and government know where most of the illegals are working all over the country. They can go in any time they want and do a raid. Just like they did in Beardstown,IL, not too far from where I live. Instead of doing a raid on 1st shift, where they'll find a higher number of illegals, they raided night clean up and only took a little over 60 illegals. Granted, that put the fear into many of the others actually working for Excel, and they took off, but come on. If you're going to do a raid, do it for maximum effect. The ones that took off will go somewhere else and find a job. Also remember, don't buy products that come from companies that hire illegals. That is really going to limit what you can buy though, especially when it comes to meat products. My husband works for Farmland Foods, and they hire a lot of illegals. Your best bet for meat products is Oscar Mayer. Then you're paying out the butt, though the more expensive something is, the less likely it was produced using illegals. I think a lot of people get involved in this situation with it not affecting them or their family. Sad thing is, most everyone is affected somehow. People like us need to show others how they can make a difference.

I've read different explanations of what is really going on. Some say that the governor is threatening companies that use the system and others say what you mentioned, that he is saying there has to be a time limit. Quite frankly the feds shouldn't like that the governor is interferring. So what if it takes a few days or a week to figure out if someone is illegal? It's better than doing nothing.

I have already helped with this cause. Operation Helmet is also on my "friend" list at Myspace. It never ceases to amaze me the careless attitude our government has for the members of the military. You should search for groups here at Gather that you could publish this article to so more people read it.

You're probably right about the tracking thing. As far as finding them, shipping them back and putting a tracking device on/in them, sounds good to me!

I have been keeping up with the story. I watched an episode of the "Dr. Phil" show yesterday that was about the situation. I personally feel that, from everything I've read and heard, the 6 boys were punished more than they should have been. Yes they need to have something happen to them for what they did, but they need to be treated the same as the whites. It's really too bad they had to do what they did to Justin Barker, but that doesn't give the law the right to punish them in an extreme manner.

I can't really say it was revenge, but....several years ago at a bar my husband was shooting team darts at, I was verbally and physically assaulted by a guy. In retaliation, I called him a name I shouldn't have, and my life was threatened. I was told the next time he saw me, he would kill me. The next time he saw me was at Walmart, and we nearly bumped into each other as I was going into an aisle and he was coming out. My "revenge" was the look of shock on his face, me smiling at him, and him hurrying away.

Sheryl O. I do not live anywhere near Mexico. I live in the westcentral part of Illinois, in a town of ten thousand people, where the nearest big town is 20 miles away and that town is only 35,000. I know what I am basing my feelings on is very real. I don't care if an illegal is educated or not. They are still illegal. If you want to know how they are coming up with the vehicles they are, perhaps you should do some research into the hiring methods used by Farmland Foods. They run ads in papers along the Mexican border promising "paperwork", transportation, housing, a vehicle, and money to get them started if they come work for them here where I live. Why don't I have a right to "group" regardless of education/knowledge? They are still illegal.
