I wonder why so many people are willing comment on such false and misleading "Journalism"(?). This entire article is a classic example of "if you keep people asking the wrong questions, you don't have to worry about the answers". As my boss is so fond of saying, "education does not equal intelligence. The world is filled with educated fools". Higher education is an indicator of stamina (or family money), not intelligence. The main difference between a degree from Harvard and a good State School is price tag, ONLY.

One can only assume from your response to my constructive comment that you do not work for a network or a production company where you do work for other people. Would it be safe to assume that you do your video for fun? With your wealth of male ego bruised, I can assure you that every first year film student learns that a dissolve shorter than a second is distracting and pretentious. It is the first sign of amateur video. Or, are you just mad because women are dominating the industry today?

I enjoyed it. I would point out that dissolves shorter than 1 sec. are distracting. I think it would have been better to just use a cut. I was taught that dissolves should always be at LEAST 1 sec. long.

I have been the AD on many Independent films and on many commercials. I really do not have any video I can publish here because I do not own it. That is a problem when you do this professionally. I might try and create some video just to publish here. Much of what I have done is owned by others and I will not break copyright laws.

dear gather I don't own a video camera so this isn't fair! I don't know anything about video so this isn't fair. I can't take photos so having photo incentives isn't fair. I am not a good writer so having writing incentives isn't fair. My knowledge of computers in limited so having any kind of online incentive isn't fair. Basically, gather is not fair and everyone here who is whining about video please realize there is a very simple solution. If you don't have a video camera, if you don't understand video compression, if you can't take a photograph, quit whining and learn or shut up.
