I like Richard! Very chivalrous. But I also liked it when she felt a little nervous earlier, wondering where he was taking her. Added spice and drama. :)

I like this, too, Katherine. Be sure to let me know when the book comes out. I found just two minor things in this chapter. The first is at the beginning--it might be helpful if you mention again that he's on the phone. At first, I wondered where he was and who he was talking to. The second is a minor typo ("And I've used your word processing software in school. ...It's missing the closed quotes.)

You've done a wonderful job with this, and raising questions about what he's been through, which would explain why he's so rightfully suspicious of her. Lots of questions and intrigue--both things I love in a book! Good luck with it at Lulu!!! :)

Hi, Katherine! I loved this chapter--especially how she watched him walking down the street (and how she thought they don't make many like him)! He sounds even more intriguing now than ever. I'm going on to read Chapter Three now... :)

I like this, Katherine! It pulled me right in, and I want to know what happens next!

Two very minor things that caught me up... First, at the beginning when it says, "He took a tiny box from the drawer that held his shirts" I was confused and read it several times, thinking his shirts were in the tiny box! Maybe that is just me! The second is that it might be good if asterisks separate Richard's viewpoint from Archibald Davis'. I know you've put a double space, but another delineation might be helpful in a printed copy.

I loved the sullen clouds description and the "violence in the air like he could feel static just before a lightning strike." What great foreshadowing and vibrant description!

You've got some wonderful lines in these two chapters. (I love his blazing blue eyes, and when she wanted to pull the tie tight enough to throttle him.) I like the tension between them, and hope there's more to come. (I like lots of conflict! :)) I also like the dialogue. The writing flows fast there. It's hard to make descriptions flow fast, and I know they're hard to pare down, because certain things just need to be said. Just an idea--maybe intersperse some of the description with additional dialogue?

I think you've got a great story going here. Your writing reminds me a little of Betty Neels--one of my all time favorite authors. Good luck with your writing. If you post the next chapter I want to read it, so please let me know! :)
