True Story, Not to mention what does Reindeer, a guy with a long white beard and red furs cruising the skies in a sleigh (an Obvious reference to Odin and his Wild Hunt.) Have to do with some guy that was born in the middle east? Absolutely nothing, they are icons and customs and traditions from the Northern European Yule/Winter Solstice festivities.

GeoCaching! - My girlfriend has recently gotten into this hobby, and so I humor her by tagging along and helping her with her finds.

Also, We enjoy taking walks/hikes in the woods/forest and beside lakes or just generally out in nature period.

Traveling to different points of intrests, be it another state park besides the one in our backyard, to a mall in the bigger cities in our area, to one of the zoos nearby, or a historical landmark, or any other point of interest.

going out to dinner at one of our many local greasy spoons

occasionally going to the movies if there is something really good that both of us would want to see.

and going to the Ohio Rennasiance Festival when it is in season (Labor day - the end of October)
I think thats about all I can think of.

I dunno Shira, Especially since the harvesting and decorating of an Evergreen tree predates any Christian observance of "Christmas" by at least a 1,000 years or so.

the tree was used in winter holiday celebrations long, long before Christmas ever came in to existence. As I demonstrated in my original commentary.

The Reason why I stay away from this site and don't use it as much as I'd possibly like to is because of all of these constant changes and upgrades ("Downgrades" in some instances in my honest opinion.)

I really wish the staff of this fine site would just go with a format and stick with it, trying to navigate a new layout every few months or so really becomes a migraine.

if it ain't broke don't fix it is what I always say.

Just some honest feedback for y'all to sift through.

And what I meant by that was, if you don't like an event then show your opposition by not attending that event :-D

if you don't like something then don't participate, that simple. no need to make these big flashy "Oh, Look at me, Watch as I Protest!." protests.

That's not what I meant.

Yes, if you don't like something by all means express your concerns, but I think staging protests and threatening people is a bit overboard, write a sermon or something and keep it in your steepled building.

whatever people, apparently this problem is just more widespread than a backwoods preacher man in a backwoods West Virgina town.

I don't see how people putting on a show for entertainment to help raise money for a cancer benefit effects your faith or because you don't like it thinks it gives you a right to be a militant angry jerk about it in the name of your religion.

If you personally don't like something or you think that your religious doctrine and dogma and leaders would not approve of it you have every right not to do that thing, but that doesn't give you a right to try to force your very narrow minded and subjective viewpoint and morals on the population at large.

no one is being forced to go to that show. or to dress that way. those people are choosing top go to that show and to perform to help raise money for cancer research.

if you don't like their method of entertainment then don't go its that simple.

grow up. your viewpoint is not the only view point out there, we live in a free country where people have a right to express yourself, if you want to live in a religious theocracy and oligarchy then take yourself to Iran.

but if you are "close minded" and "Judgemental" and you claim to follow the religion of Christianity isn't that not being contradictory to the teachings of the Christ?

Yeshua reached out and fellowshipped with everyone and loved unconditionally and never judged, instead of showing people hate Yeshua showed understanding and compassion.

The Hospital is only like 5 ml. away not that far it's just that I don't have a car of my own, I'm waiting on the g/f to get done with her internship for school for the day so that i can swing by a visit my grandma for a little bit.

we have a Starbucks kiosk inside of the grocery store I work at - they (the store which is a major grocery Retailer) have a contract the workers are actually from our deli-bakery dept. who are trained as barista's I saw a sign about "taking the starbucks VIA Challenge" and asked them about it. and they just looked at me like I was stupid. now I feel jilted out of my free sample.

I Remember facebook before it got soo "popular" before all the apps, back when you actually needed a valid College/University E-mail address to sign up :-) back before all these celebrities and marketing campaigns and products and services had "Pages" it's just became an over commercialized myspace knock off now.
