Nice write-up, Tom! I've been an evangelist for Mint for some time now, too. I felt at ease with the privacy and security they offer, primarily as they don't store your personal info, nor do they link your account info to it.

Hi, MaryAnne.

I'm curious and want to confirm a change to email notifications based on modified date/time stamp. I'm receiving an email notification for each instance someone in my network has modified and saved an article. This is a bit troubling, as I've already received a notification for this item, and am not sure I need to be notified again when someone corrects a spelling error, for example. Can you confirm this is the case? When did that get implemented, if so, and why? Anyone else experiencing this?

Thank you for all of your feedback. I've had the opportunity to read each of your comments, and appreciate the dialogue.

The question asked, while trivial to some, is based around an integral part of the Gather site experience – YOUR conversations. How they are treated visually is important, as commenting is one of the most prolific components of the site. We're working on improving dozens of other areas as well, both visually and functionally.

Jim, myself, and others on the Product Development team are working toward completing a number of enhancements to comment display, some of which you recommended above. Stay tuned for further conversation and development in this and other areas.

Both ING Direct and Emigrant Direct have no fees, no minimums. Emigrant does have a slightly higher APY at 5.05%, however.

Why though, does this need to be a fantasy? Can it work its way into our reality? Who is to say that one who generates enough support on real issues in this type of venue should not be taken seriously?

You state the following: [this idea] has the potential for the common man or woman to throw his or her hat into the political ring without the impossible, and sometimes shady practice of fundraising that we face in real politics. . .

How interesting and ground-breaking will it be when one day we elect an official -- be it for local, regional, national, [ or world?] office -- solely by his or her social networking capacity?
