I'm glad to hear your husband is okay, at least in the sense that he is not bleeding on the side of the road somewhere.... Your original post on the issue was very concerning. Your husband sounds like someone I know... thankfully not my husband...

My husband should have been a drill Srg. for the military. THe military missed out on a good soldier when they decided to have a few years of peace during his 20's. He works for himself instead, which works for us.

My good news to share is this: my husband is making money from the big snow storm, as he is out plowing. As for the snow storm, well, I found something good to say about it, at least!!!

I loved all of your post. I'll comment on one, however. A little rant that is not so rant-ish....
I must say that it only takes a few minutes to sit down and play with your child and you can do so much for the world as a whole if you give your child the time they deserve- not just on Christmas but every day. I believe in raising children with what they will benefit most from, a thing that will prepare them best to meet the problems of the world, and what the world will benefit most by giving it first to my child and that is time which is love. Because you can't say you care about a thing or a person unless you are first willing to give it much of your time and attention.

So to this quote, I say, "Well isn't that a shame that they are so busy...." : The parent who gets down on the floor to play with a child on Christmas Day is usually doing a most remarkable thing -- something seldom repeated during the rest of the year. These are, after all, busy parents committed to their work or their success in the larger society, and they do not have much left-over time in which to play with their children. ~ Brian Sutton-Smith

I view Christmas as the celebration of the birth of Christ. As a child, my grandmother gave me a Children's Living Bible for Christmas and it was one of my most treasured possessions all of my childhood, even before I was a believer. Because of that, it is one of the only things I saved from my childhood. She also once gave me a 10 Commandments charm braclette. My sons have all recieved a childrens Bible that is appropriate for their age. Under my tree right now is a soft manger and a variety of Christian Childrens books. I also explain not only the birth of Jesus and the importance of him in life throughout the year, but at Christmas time I explain the story of the manger and they understand all the characters in the story. We had a wonderful church service on the beginning of Advent with readings that described the meaning of all the traditional christmas decorations. My 8 year old son really loved that.
