It is in Minneapolis next to Lake Harriet. It is a Japanese garden in one part, and annexed additional garden spaces as well. We offer a special ritual with school children each year in a prayer for peace on the anniversary of the Atomic Bomb blast in Nagasaki. There is a circle of stones, with a center stone donated by the people of Nagasaki, around which the children are guided to make origami peace cranes and hang them in the surrounding trees.

I have several photos of this garden in my collection, for it is one of my favorite spots to get away. Also adjacent is a bird sanctuary where one can disappear in the woods for a time. It is one of the reasons why I love Minneapolis.

That dog ran up to me and jumped on me like I was the owner. The woman walking the dog was even surprised. She explained she was walking the dog for a friend. I was just happy for the wonderful attention:-)

Looking again, I think I did use my 100 mm macro. At the time I labeled it I did not think I had, but I think I was wrong on this one.

What wonderful photos, and also a very long ago reminiscence. Way back in 1952, I attended Caldwell Kindergarten which shared the space with Caldwell Zoo. I went on to graduate from Tyler Lee there before moving on to Houston then Minneapolis. Thank you for sharing your photos and providing a wonderful memory as well:-)

Well it is a busy parkway, so considering the traffic in that area, it was not too bad. Locally we take seriously these sorts of public projects, this one on Earth Day. So many showed up that within two hours our section was completed.

I can't speak to the etherial nature of entitites who have visited and delivered me in times of great difficulty. Were they human or angelic? This as in all matters of faith are unprovable except anecdotally. Whoever they were however, I am truly grateful.

Hi Steve, sorry for the delay. My partner and I have been ill. Anyway, I photograph the frost formations on the window in the early morning hours when the sun is refracting through the crystalline features on my kitchen window. Then in editing, I use my RGB (color settings) to differentiate existing colors within the light that was captured by the camera. The result are these lovely natural works of art. The great part is, the colors are all there, only enhanced where we can see them by editing.

It is the specialty of the famed architect Frank Gehry. Right now the light is low on our horizon, but when the sun gets higher here in Minneapolis, all sorts of reflections can be seen. He is the premier example of the union of architecture and artist I think.

Most of these will be placed on top of existing sleds, but heck, around here kids go sledding on cardboard all the time. The snow doesn't really start melting til April in Minnesota, except on a very rare day. So imagine the box exteriors being mounted on a sled or in some cases two sleds fastened together. If the weather is not bad, I may go to the rally tomorrow as a followup.

They are making exteriors to fit over the sled, though in some cases the cardboard box itself may suffice for sledding. In the art sled contest to come, they will be made of all different materials. This was a class to get the kids started on doing this sort of thing. They had such wonderful ideas:-)

Weather permitting, they will be having an art sled rally tomorrow at that park. Just picture art cars and apply the concept to sleds. It's a great family activity.

Actually, he had coffee in that cup. He was in a very happy mood and when he saw my camera, he asked if I wanted to take his photograph. After I took this shot, he came over and gave me a hug and wished me a happy holiday (I took it just before Christmas).
